ROBERT SCOTT AND AARON JEVVELL, OF LAWRENCE, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR FABRIC.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,467, dated August 22, 1876 application filed August 4, 1876. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ROBERT Soo'r'r and AARON JEWELL, both of Lawrence, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Design for Fancy Worsted or \Voolen Fabrics; and we do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawing, making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The efl'ect of our novel design will be apparent from an inspection of the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
This efi'ect is produced by narrow stripes of so-called basket-weaving pattern A A running both lengthwise and crosswise of the fabric, thereby forming squares B B, which are filled with diagonal shade-lines, as shown, these lines being opposite in direction on squares adjacent to each other longitudinally and laterally, and the same in direction on squares diagonally adjacent. Furthermore, greater prominence is given to the center lines shading the squares than to the other lines of the square, and owing to the arrangement of shading above described, there appear running diagonally across the pattern lines 0 O", which form a diamond pattern, as shown.
The fabric may be woven in any preferred variety or combination of colors for givingeffeet to the design above described, the characteristic features of which are the longitudinal and transverse stripes of basket-weaving pattern, in combination with the diagonallyshaded squares and diamond pattern, as described and shown.
What we claim is The design for fancy worsted or woolen fabrics, substantially as herein described, and repv resented in the drawing.
