LEE M. HAND AND OVID W. MORGAN, 0F KILGORE, NEBRASKA.
SIG-N.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LEE M. HAND and OVID IV. MORGAN, citizens of the United States, residing at Kilgore, in the county of Cherry and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Signs; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it ap'pertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in signs, and has for an object to provide a device of this character in which the use of nails or other similar fastening devices may be dispensed with.
Another object of this invention is to improve and simplify devices of this character, rendering them comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, reliable and efficient in use and readily operated.
lVith the above and various other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more particularly described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a detail perspective View of our improved sign secured to the side of a wall or the like; Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken on the line aa of Fig. l, and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one end of the sign proper with one of the clamping screws removed therefrom.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference the numeral 1 designates generally our improved sign, comprising a rectangular frame 2, consisting of upper and lower side members 3 and 41 connected at their opposite ends by vertical members 5 and 6. The inner edges of these members are longitudinally slotted as at 7 for interlocking engagement with enlargements 8, formed by bending the opposite ends and sides of the sign proper 9, upon themselves around short bars or strands of wire a convenient distance as clearly illustrated in the drawing. In order to prevent the said Specification of Letters Patent.

frame from weakening or becoming loose, the contacting ends of the upper and lower members 3 and t are provided with tongues 10, for engagement with recesses 11 formed in the opposite ends of the end connecting members 5 and 6.
In order to provide for the suspension of the said sign, the end member 5 is provided with apertures 12, through which the threaded ends of clamp screws 13 are eX- tended for engagement with a vertical spring bar 14, the opposite apertured ends of which project beyond the said end member 5, whereby the same may be secured to a wall or any other desired support 15, as indicated in Fig. 1 of the drawing. The headed ends of the previously mentioned screws 13 are transversely slot-ted, as at 16, for the reception of one of the enlarged ends 8 of the sign 9, whereby the end member 5 may be readily clamped to the said sign, and hold the sides and opposite end of the frame 1 against displacement.
From the foregoing disclosure it will be manifest that a sign is provided, which will fulfil all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A device such as described, comprising a substantially rectangular sign, a supporting frame secured thereto, enlargements formed upon the opposite sides and ends thereof, for engagement with the opposite sides and ends of the supporting frame, screws engaging the enlargement formed upon one end of the sign, a suspending member secured to said screws for the purpose of holding the said frame against displacement, and also for supporting the sign, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore described.
In testimony whereof we afiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
