PAIL-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 27, 1910.
Patented Mar. 14, 1911.
Serial No. 579,268.
T 0 all whom it may concern: 1
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM F. VVEATH- nRs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Jackson, in the county of Jackson and State of Michigan, .have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pail-Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to apail holder adapted for painters use and other purposes where it is desirable to suspend pails from a ladder or scaffold within easy reach of the user.
The invention consists in the matters hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a View of a holder that embodies features of the invention with pails thereon in position; Fig. 2 is a view in detail of a retaining ring and pail; Fig. 3 is a view in detail of a hanger; Fig. 4: is a view in detail of a hanger hook; Fig. 5 is a View in detail of a brush holder; Fig. 6 is a View in detail of a base plate.
As herein illustrated, a base plate 1, circular in outline with a pair of oppositely disposed segmental notches cut therefrom retains a pair of cylindrical bands 2 beaded at their margins which are retained in the segmental-notches of the base 1 by tongues 3 whose ends pass under the bead, the remaining marginal portions of the notches being snapped over the beads. An upright block A is secured on end centrally on the base between the bands 2 provided with bolt holes 5 through which bolts are passed that secure the upper portions of the bands in place.
A hanger strap is bent between its ends into a pair of parallel arms 6 secured on opposite sides of the block 4, as by screws 7 or the like, and formed above the block into an oval loop 8 provided with a longitudinal slot 9 in its upper portion. A hanger or painters hook 10 has a screw -threaded shank 11 which may be passed through the slot 9 where it is secured as by suitable nuts 12 or the like so as to tilt in either direction. Each band is provided with a brush holder that is preferably formed of a piece of spring wire bent between its ends into slightly outwardly curved spring arms 13 with mating looped ends 14 and a central eyelet 15 secured against the side of the band by bolts 16. The bands 2 are proportioned to receive a paint pail or the like and when the apparatus is assembled, it forms a ready means for carrying paint pails or the like and holds them in any desired position either on a scaffold or ladder. There are no rivets to rust out'or work loose the bolts enabling the parts to be renewed if necessary, and the whole forms a simple and effective device for painters use.
Obviously changes in the details of construction may be made without departingfrom the spirit of the invention and I do not care to limit myself to any particular form or arrangement of parts.
What I claim as my invention is 1.,A paint pail holder comprising a base, pail collars secured thereto, an upright standard between the collars, a hanger on the standard having a looped and slotted upper end, and a painters hook adjustably secured in a slot of the hanger.
2. A paint pail holder comprising a plate, a standard secured thereto, pail collars interlocked at their lower margins with the margins of the plate and secured to the standard, a hanger strip secured to the standard and provided with a looped and slotted upper end, and a painters hook adjustably secured in the slotted hanger end.
3. A paint pail holder comprising a plate having diametrically opposite, concave segmental notches with central tongues, collars fitting the notches with beaded margins interlocked by the tongues and adjacent margins of the notches a standard on the plate between the notches, a hanger strip extending above the notches, a painters hook adjustably secured in the upper end of the hanger, and brush holders on the collars.
4:. A paint holder comprising a plate having diametrically opposite concave segmental notches with central tongues, collars fitting the notches with beaded margins interlocked by the tongues and adjacent margins of the notches, a standard on the plate between the notches, a hanger strip bent between its ends into a pair of parallel arms secured to the standard with a connecting slotted loop above the standard, a painters hook having a screw-threaded shank engaging the loop slot, nuts for securing the shank in the slot, and brush holders on the collars.
5. A pail hanger comprising a base plate having a pair of diametrically opposite, segmental concave notches with a central tongue the hook in the slot, and spring brush holders on the collars.
'In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
