Texas, have invented a new and useful Hose- Supporter, of which the following is a specification. v

The ob ects of the lnvention are, generof a device of the class above described which shall be adapted to be retained upon the leg of the wearer without the use of ordinary fastening means; other and further objects being made manifest hereinafter as the dc- .scrlption of the invention progresses.

With these and other objects in view, as hereinafter more fully described, the invention consists in the novel construction of parts hereinafter described, delineated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in that portion of this instrument wherein patentable novelty is claimed for certain peculiar and distinctive features of the device, it being understood, that, within the scope of what hereinafter thus is claimed, changes in the form, proportions, size, and minor details of the structure may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings; Figure 1 shows the invention in perspective appliance to the leg of the wearer; and Fig. 2 is a detail perspective of a portion of the device.

In the accompanying drawings, the numeral 1 denotes, generally, a sock, which may be of any construction and of any form. I have used the term sock as a generic term, and it is to be understood that the same may include half-hose, full length stockings, or any other form of leg covering.

The sock is provided at its top with a longitudinally extending tab 2, rising from the upper edge 11 of the sock. The tab 2 is provided at its outer lateral edge 3 and at the top, with a laterally projecting band 12 adapted to extend around the leg of the wearer. Located inside the tab at its top and at its inner lateral edge 5 is a reinforction of the tabby attaching means of any sort, whereby the free end of theb'and may be connected with the tab. In the present instance the attaching means is shown in the form of buttons, which are sewed to the tab and to the reinforcing strip. The band 12 is provided, throughout the major-portion of its length. with button-holes 8 spaced side of the leg.

So far as I am advised as to the state of the art, it has been customary hitherto for the band 12 to rise directly from the upper edge 11 of the sock. By this construction a V-shaped space is allowed to intervene between the upper edge 11 of the sock and the lower edge 9 of the band and into this V- shaped opening. the flesh of the wearer is crowded causing great discomfort, notably when, as is frequently the case, the sock moves circumferentially upon the leg of the wearer. This V-shaped opening I dispense with by -providin the upstanding tab 2 whereby the band is spaced apart from the upper edge of the sock.

It is to be understood that the sock 1, the tab 2, and the band are fashioned integrally, the several members being formed in a single operation, during the manufacture of the sock. The material from which the parts are commonly fashioned possesses sufficient resiliency so that the band 12 may exercise its proper function, thereby doing away with the cumbersome and irritating hose supporters now in use.
