IMPROVEMENT IN BUTTONS.
The Schedule referred to'in these Letters Patent and making part of the llame.l
To all whom yit may coat-ern.:
Be it known that I, A. P. CarroHLoW, of Northampton, in the county of Hampshire, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and improved Button; and I do hereby declare that the following is -a i'hll, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a sectional view of my improved but-tou, and
Figure 2, an under-side view of the same, showing the fastening-eye.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention relates to an improved button, and consists in an article constructed with au elongated aperture, or groove, and a pin, secured at right angles thereto, as is more particularly hereinafter described.
- The button A, which is made of suitable material, is perforated horizontally, that is to say,i11 a direction parallel to its face.
The groove a, thus formed, may he of any preferred Width or depth.
For the purpose of forming aneye, whereby the button maybe attached to the cloth, a pin, b, is put through the body of the saine, atv right angles to the groove a, and is secured therein, in any suitable manner.
The button thus produced does not project from the cloth, as is the case with those having the ordinary eye, but lies perfectly flat upon the surface of the same, vhile it is attached with equal ease and dispatch, the needle, in passing through the slot, being held parallel with the face of the button and surface of the cloth.
