IMPROVEMENT IN DIRECTION-LABELS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 53,233, dated March 13, 1866.

To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, MILO J. PROCTER, of Lowell, county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Direction-Labels and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specitcation.

The nature of my invention consists in the arrangement and construction of the wire and loop, as hereinafter set forth.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.

Figure l represents a lnished label. Fig. 2 represents a label out in its desired form and size. Fig. 3 represents a nished Wire and loop.

The material being cut to its desired size and in its proper shape, as seen in Fig. 2, the Wire a, with its loop b, being prepared in proper shape, as seen in Fig. 3, the Wire aI is placed on its designed position e c, the loop b projecting through the hole d. The lap o is then folded over the Wire a and cemented down, and the label nished, as seen in Fig. 1.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The Wire a, which gives strength and firmness to the label.

2. The loop b, which gives convenience in attaching the label to articles, for the purposes described and manner set forth.
