Description
@einen 'tartes ste@ @ff'fw IMPROVEMENT IN FASTENINGS FOR 'PAPER COLLARS.
dlgs rhrhnle reliant in in tlg-csc tettitsateut mit milking nnttlp smite.
TO ALL WHOM ITMAY CONCERN l Be it known that I, CHARLES `REVERsoN, of Palmyra, n'the county of Wayne, andStatle of New York, have invented a. new and improved Fastener for Collars, etc.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art'to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The present invention relates to a fastener'for holding the tivo ends of a collar together, and securing suoli ends of the collar to the front button of the shirt-hand, Without :passing their button-holes over such button,
whereby the button-holes are relieved ofall strain, and consequent breaking or tearing out from use, especially when the collar is made of paper. In the accompanying plate of drawings my improved fastener for collars, etc., is illustratedf Figure l being a front view of the same in connection with a colla-r.
Figure 2, a vier;l of the rear side of the fastener; and
Figure 3, a vertical section, taken on the plane of 'the line :1: sa, fig. 1.
`Similar letters of reference indicate'like parts. Y
A, in the drawings, represents my improved fastener, which consists of a. plate, B, of metal or other suitable material, having hinged to one of its edges C a clasp-plate, D, of `suitable length to extend across the plate B,
and fasten, by the other end E, over the opposite edge F of the said plate' B; G, an India-rubber loop, secured to centre of plate B, from the rear side of which it projects or hangs. i
In using the fastener above described, for collars, the two ends ofthe collar are rst overlapped, so as to bring their button-holes in the same line with eachother, when through such button-holes pass the clasp D, and, bringing it down over the front side, catch it overthe lower edge of the plate B, when, as i's obvious, the two ends of the collar are fastened together, and can be then secured by the loop to the fastener over the fro-nt button of the shirt, or previous to the insertion of the clasp in the button-holes, as hereinabove described.
By the use of my improved collar-fastener no strain is produced upon the button-holes to the collar,;and consequently their tcaringor breaking out or away from use and wear is, in a great measure, obviated.
It may be here observed that, although 'my fastener has been described with especial reference to collars,
it may be 'used for other articles of wearing apparel, such as cuffs, ete.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent A fastener for collars, composed of plate B, having aclasp, D, hinged to it, and provided with a loop, G,
substantially as described.
, CHAS. RL EVER-SON.
