M A 1 1: e i f1}. 1 -L SH .27. E'Iann wi b1 and UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE DANA F. TANNEB, OF HOLLAND, NEW YORK.
N ECK-YO KE.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented J uly 1 2, 1910.
Application filed February 27, 1908. Serial No. 418,120.
' engaged, and engaged over the ends of the To all 1137mm. it may concern:
Be'it known that. I. l l. Tsssnn, a eitizen of the t nited tates. residing at Holland, in the eount v of Erie and State of New York, have invented eertain new amt useful linprovenwnls in Xeek- Yoke of 'ttlt'll the following is a speeilieation.
This invention relates to leek- Yokes, and
has for its objeet to provide a metallie neekvoke which will be simple in Stltlt'tlllt and arrangementof the partsto the neck-yoke.
In the drawings forming a portion of this speeifieation. and in \Yltltl] like munerals ot' referent-e indieate similar parts in the several views, Figure l is a top plan of the neekvolte, Fig. 2 is a rear elevation. l-ig. t is a longitudinal seetion looking toward the front.
tefel Ingnow to the drawings, there is shown a neekvoke 'ltlt'lt inelndes a eeutral I vertu-all v disposed sleeve ll. through whteh there is engaged a eentral rivet t3. rivet 13 extends beyond the ends of the sleeve and has engaged upon its upper amt The lower ends. a pair of longittulinally exteuding metallie members t and T respeetivel v. 'lhese met allir numbers are bent toward earh other at. opposite sides of the sleeve -l l, to bring their ends into mutual engagement and. as shown. the metallie members are also enrved transversely. so that their edges are presented toward eaeh other. as illustrated. iugaged between these edges at the rearward side of the yoke and one at eaeh end thereof. there are a pair of end links IT, and engaged through the ends of the members 6 and 7 and through the links, there are end rivets It), whit-h are headed over at their eX- tremities to hold the ends of the metallie members against separation and to firmly elamp the links 17 between the rearward edges of the two members (3 and 7.
As illustrated. the metallic members ti and 7 have openings 13' at. their renters through which the ends of the central rivet 13 are rivets outwardly of the metallie members, are the legs 1t and 15 of a elip yoke n; adapted for engagement with the terminal ring of a wagon pole. as will be understood. As shown. the end link 17 receives rings 18 for connection with the collars of the horses in the usual manner.
.\s will be seen. the peculiar structure set forth is sueh that a t uss etl'eet is obtained. and also an arrangement is produced in which the links. I? are tirmly elamped in position.
.\s illustrated. the edge portions of the members ti and T are eurved downwardly amt upwardly respeetivelv over the ends of the eentral sleeve 11. and that the heading over the ends of the rivet 13 thus produees a positive and etlieielu binding of the parts preventing loosening of the eonneetion.
What is claimed is:
.\s an a rtiehof manufacture, a neek yoke eomprising in eombination. a pair of similarl v t'ormed elongated metallie plafesenrved transversely and disposed with their eoneave surlaees toward eat-h other. a spaeing sleeve engaged between the members at their renters. said members having openings therein registering with the opening of thesleeve. a rivet engaged through the members amt through the sleeve. an attaehing elip engaged with the outer ends of the rivets. said metallie members at opposite sides of the sleeves being bent toward eaeh other to bring their side edge portions at their extremities into mutual engagement. links engaged between the rearward edge portions of the metallic members. rivets engaged through the end portions of the metallie members and headed over-to elamp the edge portions of the members against the links and hold the links against movement. said rivets being engaged through the links to hold the said links against longitudinal withdrawal from between the metallie members, and rings engaged in the links.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature in present-e of two witness s.
