SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 681,695, dated September 3, 1901.
Application filed March 21, 1901. Serial No. 52,146. No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK WILLIAM GRELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oollegepoint, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to combs.
I will describe a comb embodying my invention and then point out the novel features thereof in a claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a comb embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a cross-section view taken on the line 2 2, but drawn to a larger scale than Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference design ate corresponding parts in both of the figures.
A represents the back of a comb, and B the teeth thereof. I have shown the comb as having both coarse and fine teeth. Each tooth B tapers from the back A to a point b.
0 represents ribs provided on both sides of 'the back A. These ribs coincide with the edges 1) of the teeth and form a continuation of the edges. The widest parts of the teeth are Wider than the widest part of the back.
Instead of having both fine and coarse teeth the comb may consist wholly of coarse teeth, each of which teeth will be provided with ribs 0 on opposite sides of the back.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A comb having a body or back, and flattened teeth extending therefrom with their edges oppositely and protuberantly curved for a certain distance, and then extended convergently inward on substantially straight lines so that the edges of the teeth shall be salient from where they leave the body or back of the comb to their points.
