MARCUS FINKELSTEIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
I-IOSE-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 14:, 1910.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARCUS FINKELs'rEIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved hose supporter, arranged to securely support the hose from the waist of the wearer without the use of an encircling band, thus preventing undue binding of the arteries and insuring free circulation of the blood in the limbs. For the purpose mentioned, a strap or tape is attached to the waistband of the drawers and is provided at its lower portion with spaced tabs, one of which is detachably fastened to the hose by a safety pin or other suitable fastening device.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure l is a perspective view of the improvement as applied; Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross section of the lower end of the strap; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged face View of the lower portion of a strap having tabs of modified form.
The strap or tape A of a suitable length is secured or otherwise attached to each side of the waistband B of a pair of drawers C or like garment, so that the strap or tape A hangs down on the outside a distance below the knee, as plainly shown in Fig. 1. The lower portion of the strap or tape A is provided with or formed into tabs A one of which is detachably secured by a safety pin, clasp or like fastening device D to the up per end of the hose E to support the latter. The tabs A are located one above the other and each is preferably formed by doubling up a portion of the strap or tape and fastening the upper end of the doubled up portion to the strap or tape by stitches F or other means.
The lower end of a tab A reaches approximately to the upper end of the next tab below, and a suflicient number of such tabs A is provided, to accommodate hose of different length in the leg portion, that is, to permit of readily fastenin the tab which is located at the upper end of the hose E to the latter by the detachable fastening means D. Thus the same strap or tape A, with its plurality of tabs A attached to the garment, readily supports hose of different lengths.
By reference to Fig. 1, it will be noticed that the portion of the strap A below the attached tab is extended between the hose and drawers and is hence out of the way and invisible. The strap or tape A is preferably made of non-elastic material and hence can be readily washed with the drawers C or other garment to which the strap is attached.
. As shown in Fig. 3, the tabs A are made somewhat tapering by doubling up the side edges and sewing the same together to form a stronger tab.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a hose supporter, the combination with a pair of drawers, of a strap secured at its upper end permanently to the drawers to hang down alongside of the same and provided at its lower free end with a plurality of tabs arranged one above the other.
2. In a hose supporter, the combination with a pair of drawers, of a strap permanently secured at its upper end to the waistband of the drawers to hang down alongside of the latter, and provided at its lower free end with a plurality of tabs arranged one above the other and formed by doubling up portions of the strap and fastening the u per ends of the doubled up portions to the strap.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MARCUS FINKELSTEIN.
