IMPROV'EMENT IN PENCES.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may conce/m Be it known that I, .lutins M. CRULL, of Noblesville, in the county of Hamilton, and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fences; and I- do" hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference 'marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists inthe construction and arrangement of a portable plank-fence, with metal fastenings, 'to hold the panels together.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains, to rnake and use the same, 1 will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective of a section of my fence, showing two panels fastened together; and

Figure 2 is a perspective of the metal fastening used at the bottom or foot of the fence.

A A represent the panels of my fence, which are formed of holizontal planks or boards, the ends of which are secured to vertical posts, said posts being placed at one end, on one side, and at the other end ou the other side of the boards, as seen in iig. 1.

The ends of the horizontal planks or boards are hevelled, and their outer edges are placed even with the edges of the posts.

The panels of the fence being thus constructed, they are placed together in a zigzag form, so that the vertical posts are at each angle on the outer side, and the berelled ends of 'the boards will meet and be close together on the inner side of the angle.

From each side of the thus enlarged centre extends a Wing or channel, which fits over the upper .board or plank lof the fencefpanel, andholds thc two panels in At the bottom or foot, the panels are fastenedfby a similar cap, inverted, this cap, however, being perforated, so as to allow any water 'that may collect to` pass out.
