To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, .loi-1N CARR, of Emerald Post Oice, in the county of Adams, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Fences;

and I do'hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear,.and exact description Aofthe construction and operation -of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings,`making a part of this specific-ation,

-and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon..

Figure l, of the drawings, is a plan view of my invention.-

Figure 2 is a detail view. v My invention relates to portablejfences; and It consists mainly in a nvel arrangement of devices intended to serve as cheap and effective means for proeach other closely when Vin place. Thesebottom boards respectively rest upon the cross-bar B, in the opening formed by the -diagonal position of the lower braces A.l

When thus placed in position, these bottom boards vgive greatrmness to the fence.

The letters D represent the rails of my fence. They consist of spars or bars of timber, made pointed at each end, and arranged to pass each other for a short distance'in the openings; of diamond-shape, formed by the braces A when in place. When thns placed in said openings, these rails, in conjunction with the bottom board, serve to make the fence strong and firnn The pivot-pins of my fence are marked aon'the drawings. They respectively pass through the braces 1A, as shown, and are in tum pinned in place by the small pins s.

This arrangement serves 'as an economical and ornamental portable'fence, easily taken apart, and easily repaired when broken.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secnre by Letters- Patent, is

A portable fence, having braces A, cross-bar B, bout# tom board C, rails'D, and pivot-pins a, constructed and 'arranged substantially as speciiied.
