Referring now to the several figures of the drawings, the referen'ce-characte l indicates a complete pocket-case or box which is made according to and embodies theprininvention, and the same comprises a pair of hinged members, or shells, one of which I will hereinafter tenn the body or case-section 2., and the other l will term the lid or cover-section E3. It will thus be seen, that these spirally formed or rolled-like marginal beads constitute the sides and ends of thetwo sections 2 and 3, and thereby provide a pair of sections or shells of proper depths for retaining matches, cigarettes, and the like, within the two hinged sections when they are brought into their closed relations. The rascsection 2 and the lid or cover-section 3 are resperti vely provided with suitably formed tubular members or cars 12 and 13, said tubular members 12 and 13 being adapted to dovetail together to form a hinged barrel, and being operatively and pivotally connected by means of a pintle 14, shown in end view in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

When the pocket-case or box is intended as a match box for the receptionof the or dinary paperfolder of safety matches, the body or case-section 2 is providcdwith inwardly cxtending retaining or holding flanges 15 and 16, which are preferably fiat, as shown in Fig. 3, and beneath which the papenfolder 17 containing the matches 18 .and the scratchingsurface 9 can he slipped,

The said flange 16 is usually provided with a suitably formed holding or locking post or stud 20 with which the inner surface of the marginal bead formed at one end of the lid or cover-section 3 can be brought in frictional engagement, so as to hold the two sections or shells 2 and ill in their properly closed relation, as represented in lfiigs. l, 2 and 4- of the drawings.

At its central portion, the said spring-bar or plate is provided with an upwardly extending post-like member 21 which is formed at its free end with a catchportion or nosing 25. The marginal head of the lid or cover-seetion 3 in this :ase is also cut away, as at 28, so as to form a retaining portion which is adapted to be snapped or sprung beneath thehookedshapedend or nosing 25, in the manner indicated in Fig. 7 of the drawings, when the two sections or shells 2 and 3 are brought into their closed relation, as will be clearly evident. It will. be evident from the foregoing description and from an inspection of the several figures of the drawings, that the present invention provides a neat} convenient and simple, as well as a durable construction of pocket-case or box, the spiral-1y formed or rolled-like marginal edge-beads producing great strength and enhancing the general appearance and beauty of the device, and at the same time-providing the proper depth, for the purpose of carrying or storing matches or cigarettes, bon-bons, and other articles of manufacture Within the case or box.
