To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, OSCAR GRAIoHEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Window-Locks, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a specification, like letters on the drawing representing like parts.
This invention relates to looks or fastening devices which are' especially adapted for windows and sashes although the lock is of such a construction that it may be used for other purposes.
The object of the invention is to provide a novel sash fastener which is easy to manipulate and will securely lock the window or sashes and will also hold them tightly together so that they will not rattle and no dust can penetrate.
I will first describe one embodiment of my invention and then point out the novel features thereof in the a pended claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the fastening embodying my invention; Fig. 2'is a view showing the manner of applying the fastener to an ordinary window sash; Fig. 3 is a side View of the fastener showin it as it might be ap lied for locking the Iid of a boX or for loo ing two window sashes together-which are situated in line with each other Fig. 4 is a sectional view through the device showing it unlocked.
My improved fastener comprises a catch member 3 which is provided with a hook portion 4 and a locking member 5 that is provided with the head 6 adapted to fit into and engageth'e hook portion 4 when the two parts are locked together.
The catch member 3 is secured to one of the parts 7 to be fastened together by any suitable means, as, for instance, by means of screws 8. The locking member 5 is pivotally connected to a link 9 which in turn is pivotally connected to the other part 10 of the two arts to be fastened. As herein shown the link 9 is pivotally connected to a plate 12 by means of a hinge pin 11, and said plateis secured to the part 10 to be fastened in any suitable way, as by means of screws 13. The link 9 is herein shown as yoke shaped, it having the two sides 14 which form between them an opening 15 in which the locking member 5 is pivoted, said locking member being ivotally mounted on the cross piece 16 of the link. In using my improved lock, the locking member 5 is swung backwardly into the position shown in Fig. 4, and after the two parts 7 and 10 to be locked together are rought into their meetin position, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the lin 9 and locking member 5 are swun downwardly to bring first the head 6 in be ind the hook portion 4 pivot to form the finger and. then to bring the shank 19 of the locking member against the plate 3. In swinging the locking member down intothis position, the link 9 passes the dead center so that after the locking member is in the position shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the strain on the link tends to hold it firmly in such position. In practice the two members of the lock will be secured to the parts 7-and 10 to be secured together in such positions that when the lock is in operative osition the two arts will be firmly clam ed together. The lock can be unfastened y merely pulling on the finger piece 17 thereby swinging the locking mem-' er into the position shown in Fig. 4.
Fig. 2 shows the device used on an ordinary window sash. When used in this way the catch member 3 is secured to the lower sash and the locking member 5 to the upper sas Figs. 3 and 4 show the device used as it mi ht be applied for locking a boxlid or for 100 any other two parts together that are in ine with each other.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a sash fastener, .the combination with a hook. member, of a locking member having a head to occupy the hook of the hook member and also having integral therewith a finger piece and a link on which said locking member is pivotally mounted.
