Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 9,1903.
Application filed September 13, 1907. Serial No. 392,753.
Tocll whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK LINDNER, a citizencf the United States, residing at Chicago, in thelco'unty of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful 1m provenients in Devices for Holding Watches, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates 'to safety attache mentsfor' watches, and'one of'the'principal objects 'off'thesame is to-provide means whereby a watch maybe securely held ine" pocket so that it cannot be surreptitiously withdrawn/or from which the watch will not drop in chan 'ng the clothing. v
Anoth'erlo ject ofthei formed thereon or connected thereto in which the ringofia watch. is to he'connected,
said clasp being attached to the outer wall edge hand ofthe pocket.
.5 A the accompanyin drawing, in which upon the insideof aocket in position to; permit the watch to e readily Withdrawn and-connected to the clasp.-
These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in Figure Lisa si e elevation of a portion ofe garment having'apocket secured thereto and showing mysafety attachment and a watch connected thereto in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken through the pocket and showing. a watch connected to the clasp.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view ofthe safety clasp showing a watch, said. clasp beingnde cached from the pocket. o Referring to the drawing for 'a more p3,
ticular description of my invention, the-nu nieral 1- designates the "portion of agarment to which a pocket 2 issecured and 3 is the Secured to the band 3 inside the pocket is a clasp comprising a base plate 4 having suitable perforat-ions 5 therein "through which the threads for. attaching the plate to the hand 3 are loop 8 over the plate 4 and isprorid'ed with a vention is to propassed The plate 4 is provided with a central recess or cutaway portion 6. A spring tongue 7 preferably formedintegral with theplate 4' extends from one end; thereof and forms a l'oop 8 to which the watch ring 9 is 1 connected. The tongue? extends from the .platew itli the curved portion l0,'sea.ti}ng within the recess 6 and thus preynts-"tl e withdrawal oi the -watch except ng-by a lateral movement.
My invention is of simple construction, cen" be ,quickly-aliplied to any. pocket,. can he manufacturm at slight cost and is durable and efficient for its purpose- Having thus described theinvention, what I claim as new,
The herein described device for "holding watches in pocketscoinprising aplate having a central cilteaway portion, and a spring tongue projecting from-one end of the plate andforming-a loop for the watch ring, said 1 tongue rlia'ving curved portion normally disposed within the cut-away portion, and a curved. terminal end extending beyond the I pletesaid plate being secured inside a pocket.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presenccof two witnesses. FREDERIQK LIXDNE'RU Witnesses;
