UNITED STATES Patented September 6, 1904.
FRED G. VANCORE, OF COLEBROOK, NEWV HAMPSHIRE.
KEY-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION: forming part of Letters Patent No. 769,418, dated September 6, 1904. Application filed February 20, 1904. Serial No. 194,623. (No model.)
1'0 all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, FREDG.VANO0R'E, a citizen of the United States, residing at Colebrook, in the county of 006s and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useful Key- Ring, of which the followingisa specification.
My invention relates to a key-ring with a ring and slot device which I claim is simple to operate, strong and durable, allows the keys to be easily attached and detached, and holds the keys securely on the key-ring.
I attain these objects by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical view of the entire keyring. Fig. 2 is a view of the key-ring with the ring out of slot. Fig. 3 is aside view of the key-ring, showing manner of attaching or detaching keys from the key-ring.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views. I
Part C, D, and Eis the key-ring, consisting of a flexible metal wire ring (which may be round, oval, or any shape I may find most practical) split at one point and the ends B bent to a half-circle,so they will meet, forming a circle, as shown,,just large enough to allow ring A to work in it freely.
Part A is a double ring of metal wire, the larger ring to work in the slot B, and is made just large enough in diameter to allow it to pass in and out of slot B freely. The smaller ring is to attach key-chain to, if desired.
To operate, take ring A between thumb and forefinger of right hand, take sides of keyring C and D between thumb and forefinger 1 of left hand, and press hard enough on sides to open slot and allow ring A to pass out. Now take side C between thumb and forefinger of left hand and side D between thumb and forefinger of right hand, press from you with right hand and toward you with left hand hard enough to allow circle B to open sidewise, as shown in Fig. 2. Now the keyring is ready to attach or detach keys, as may be desired.
To pass keys on or off from key-ring, take part E between thumb and forefinger of left hand, take key between thumb and forefinger of right hand and pass it between parts B, as shown in Fig. 3.
To fasten key-ring, press on sides C and D and parts B will fly back into place. Now press once more hard ,enoughto open slot B and admit ring A. Now key-ring isfastened, as shown in Fig. 1.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a key-holder the combination of a wire ring having each of its ends bent to form a half-circle and normally abutting each other, with part A, consisting of a wire bent to form two eyes or loops, one of which is designed to be placed in the circle formed by the ends of the ring, to prevent accidental separation thereof, and the other eye or loop adapted to be attached to a key-chain.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
