T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID H. ANDERSON, citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuffs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates in general to apparel and more particularly to an improved cuff embodying means for securing an interlocking connection between the ends thereof.
The object of the invention is to devise a cuff `of this character which is simple in its construction and manipulation, and can be manufactured at approximately the same cost as the ordinary form of`cuff.
To this end the invention resides principally in the provision of a cufll provided at one end with an upwardly extending` tab constituting a means for securing the cuff in position, the opposite end carrying a longitudinally disposed tongue provided with a slit designed to receive the before-mentioned tab.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction, of the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is a perspective view of a cuff embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view showing the cuff before being folded.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
Specifically describing the invention, the numeral l designates the body portion of the cuff which may be formed of any suitable material and is similar in construction to the cuffs in general use. The opposite ends of the body portion of the cuff are provided at points adjacent the lower edge thereof with corresponding openings 2 designed to receive the shank of the cuff button in the usual manner.

thereof to the end 5. Extending upwardly from the reduced end of the cuff is a tab 6 which constitutes means for attaching the cuff to the sleeve of the shirt when in use. In the present instance this tab 6 is shown as formed with an opening 7. rI he opposite and larger end 4 of the cuff is provided adjacent the upper edge with a longitudinally extending tongue 8 designed to be bent rearwardly and have an interlocking connection with the tab 6. In the preferred construction the tongue 8 is formed with a longitudinal incision 9 through which the tab 6 is passed. This incision is in alinement with the rear edge of the reduced end of the cuff whereby, when the latter is folded as shown in Fig. l, and the tab 6 is in engagement with the tongue 8, the two openings 2 are in registry with each other, and the lower edge of the cuff has an even appearance. It will thus be apparent that by forming a cuff with the interlocking tongue 8 and tab 6, as set forth in the foregoing description, the two end portions thereof may be securely connected together without the necessity of employing any detachable fastening members. Attention may also be directed to the fact that the cuff has a peculiar construction which enables it 4to be designed with a single button hole.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
A cuff comprising a body portion having the upper edge thereof inclined from one end thereof to the opposite end and one end of the cuff being thereby reduced in width, a tab extending upwardly from the reduced end of the cuff, and a tongue extending longitudinally from the opposite end of the cuff adjacent the upper edge thereof, the said tongue being formed with an incision arranged in alinement with the u per edge of the reduced end of the cuff an designed to receive the before mentioned upwardly extending tab.
