SASH-CRD GUIDE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 19, 1907.
Patented April 7', 1908.
Serial No. 389,207.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that we, JOHN 4M. MARTIN and ELIsHA J. FAiREs, citizens of the United States of America, residing at McKinney, in the county of Collin and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Cord Guides, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in sash cord guides and has relation more particularly to that class wherein a plurality of pulleys are employed.
It is an object of the invention to provide a device of this character which may be readily applied to a window jamb and held in position thereon.
Furthermore, it is an object of this invention to provide anovel device of this character which will prove efficiency and satisfactory in use as well as comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, in which- Figure 1, is a view of a fragment of a window j amb showing the invention applied thereto, said view being in side elevation; Fig. 2, is a view in front elevation of the device; Fig. 3, is a cross section thereof, and Fig. 4, is a longitudinal section with parts omitted.
In the drawings, 1, denotes a window jamb having an opening 2, through which a casing 3, is adapted to be inserted, said casing projecting beyond one side of the jamb, to wit, the inner side when in applied position. This casing is cylindrical in form and is provided on one end with the face plate 4, formed integral therewith. This face plate 4, r-is provided with the op ositely arranged perforated ears 5, which fill: within suitable recesses in the jamb in order that said plate will be flush with the j amb. Through these perforated ears pass suitable retaining members 6, which engage the jamb, said members being preferably screws.
The face plate 4, is provided with the elongated opening 7 which registers with the bore of the cylindrical casing. This opening of the casing is provided with the parallel edges which form shoulders 8, against which the solid segmental sections 9, abut. These sections 9, extend the entire length of the casing and are suitably secured thereto by soldering, welding, or in any desired manner. These sections 9, form supports for the shafts 10, which pass through the openings 11, in the casing and through the sections. On these shafts are mounted the cord pulleys 11', which may be of any desired structure, but are so arranged as to fit snugly within the casing to obviate any undue movement thereof on the shafts. The purposes of this guide are thought to be apparent without giving a detail thereof.
What we claim is:
l. In combination, a tubular casing having a face plate thereon, said face plate having an opening registering with the bore of the casing and forming shoulders, reinforce sections within the casing abutting against the shoulders formed by the face plate, shafts mounted in the reinforce sections, and pulleys on the shafts.
2. In combination, a tubular casing having a face plate formed integral with the.
casing, said face plate having an opening registering with the bore of the casing and forming shoulders, reinforce sections within the casing abutting against the shoulders formed by the face plate, shafts mounted in the reinforce sections, and pulleys on the shafts.
In testimony whereof, we affix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
