COMBINED SASH BALANCE AND ANTIRAT'ILER.
Application filed December 28, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES R. SCHAR- LANDT, .ALEXANDER SCHARLANDT, and Osonn J. SCHARLANDT, citizens of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Sash Balances and Antirattlers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to spring sash lifters and has for its object to provide a device of this kind which is so constructed and connected to the sash as to prevent rattling thereof.
In the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a part of a window, partly in section, showing the application 01' the invention; and Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail in vertical section.
Referring specifically to the drawing, 6 denotes the window casing, and 7 the sash. The sash stiles are recessed at the side to Specification of Letters Patent.

permit the attachment of one end of a spring 8, by means of a pin 9, and the extremity of said spring is bowed outwardly, as indicated at 10, to press against the window easing, and thus prevent rattling of the sash. The spring 8 is a coiled spring, and is the lifting spring of the sash, and may be a part of, or be attached to, another spring 11. A suitable support and housing for the springs is provided.
\Ve claim: T The combination with a sash having a recessed stile, of a lifting spring extending into the recess and fastened to the stile, and having its end bowed out to bear against the side of the casing holding the sash.
