Eig. jmay-be of vthe samegeneral constme tie i ae th 13 eft 17? of? the deviee shown in dwiith the-elbiiggafed aperture 20 a,
inclusive, my improved device is mounted with the spring part 18 directed inwardly of the window frame or at right angles to the vertical plane of the window frame, and in the use of the device after the shank 13 has been placed in the aperture of the keeper 14, the shank 15 is passed over the curved end portion 25 of the spring part '18 and forced inwardly, in which operation the spring is depressed and the shank 15 passes through the aperture 20 and into the aperture 27, and the spring part 18 then moves outwardly to lock and retain the shank 15 against displacement in the device 16. When it is desired to remove the shade roller the spring part 18 is depressed by hand and the shade roller is removed as will be apparent.
In Figs. 4:, 5 and 6 of thedrawing, I have shown a slight modification in which the spring part 18 instead of being attached to the part 17, and instead of being provided with the looped portion 25, is curved at one end as shown at 28 and provided with an enlarged cross head 29, the opposite ends of which are apertured and the crosshead 29 is of such form as to register the apertures thereof with the apertures of the ears 23 of the part 17 so that the passage of nails, screws, or the like through the apertures of the ears 23 will operate to retain the spring part 18 as well as the part 17 in predetermined position, It will also be noted that the device shown in Figs 4 to 6 inclusive is mounted in an angular position on thewindow frame, or one of the side members 11 thereof, or at an angle of approximately forty-five degrees to the vertical plane of the window frame instead of at right angles as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. \Vith the above exceptions the construction and operation of the device shown in Figs. 4 to 6 inclusive will be exactly the same as that shown in Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive.
In Fig. 7 of the drawing, I have shown another modification in which I employ substantially the same spring ,part.18 as shown in Figs. 4 to 6 inclusive, but in Fig. 7 the part 17 or the aperture 20 thereof opens outwardly through the opposite side of said part 17 as shown at 30, and with a device of this construction it is supported in a window frame or on one of the side members thereof with the spring part 18 in the same vertical plane as the window frame and with thefree or projecting end of the spring part directed downwardly. -It. will be apparent that with this form of construction the shank 15 of the shade roller is passed downwardly into the device and is automatically passed into the aperture 27 v of the spring part 18, and said shank is released by depressing the protruding, end
portion 26 of the part 18.
From the foregoing it will be apparent thatthe'distinctive features of my present invention over that shown and described in my pending applications are the provision of a comparatively short part or casing 17 and a correspondingly short spring device effecting a decided saving in the amount of material employed in the production of my improved device and also permitting of the mounting of the device onsmall fiat surfaces on the side 7 members of" a window frame, and while I have shown certain details of construction for carrying my invention into effect, it will be understood that I am not necessarily limited to these details, and Various changes therein and modifications thereof may bemade, within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
