Description
LAZARD KAHN, OF HAMILTON, OHIO.
STOVE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 9, 1907.
' Application led May 20,1904. Serial No. 208,794.
To all ywhom it may concer-n:
Be it known that I, LAZARD KAHN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hamilton, Butler county, Ohio, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to Istoves ol' the class used for heating purposes, and the objects of my improvement are to provide the stove body with brackets which are adapted to engage :Vith and supportl it on the base portion which serve to support and protect the stove bottom from injury, and which serve also to support the foot rail, the grate and the lire linings.
These objects are attained in the following` described manner as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:-
Figure l, is a side elevation of the stove; Fig. 2, a vertical section of a bracket and parts of contiguous members of the stove; Fig. 3, an isometrical view of a bracket with portions of the base and the foot rail; Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7, show parts of different forms of base portions.
In the drawings, the stove body 11 preferably consisting of sheet metal and preferably cylindrical in shape is formed with a series of perforatioiis or opeuings 12 through the lower portion ot' its side and in a plane parallel with its bottom 13. lt is provided with ash pit door and frame 14 and 15, l'oot rail 16 and the usual top 17. Said top contains flue opening 18, a fuel door (not shown) and is surmounted by a perforated hood 19 which is swivcled thereon in the usual manner.
Brackets or castings 2l, are secured to the stove body by means of bolts 22, and toes or tenons 23, preferably Haring in shape, are extended at right angles therefrom under the bottom 13 to which they are secured by means oi' bolts 24 to strengthen and protect it l'rom injury. Heels 25 terminate the lower end ol the brackets below shoulders 2G formed thereon and the toes 23, to form supports for the body on the floor when disunninted from the base, as for shipping or storing.` Arms 27 are extended from brackets 2l through :penings l2 and terminate within the stove body in offsets or seats 28 wherein grate 29 is movably supported. Said arms are formed with notches 31 lo maintain lire linings 32 supported thereon concentric with the grate. Catches 33 formed on the brackets terminate near lugs 34 thereunder to form open angu. lar slots 35, and foot rail 1G is formed with inwardly projecting arms 36 which terminate in upturned cxtreniities 37 adapted to detachably engage with the slots and support the foot rail on the brackets.
The base portion may be pl `.in as shown in Fig. or, as shown in Fig. 4, it may consist of a continuous skirting 41 with legs 42: or with skirting formed in sections 43 and bolted together as at 44; or with the skirtings in section 45 and bolted to the leg portion 42 of the base; or the leg 42 without any skirting may be formed with inwardly projecting wings 46 having tapering slots 47 between them which are adapted to det-.reliably engage with tenons 23 under bottom 13 like an ordinary dove tail.
rlhe base portions are all formed with notches or seats 47 in their upper margin and preferably over the legs 42. Said notches are adapted to detachably engage with the heels 25 of the brackets to maintain the stove body in proper position on the base when it is supported thereon by means of shoulders 26 as shown in Figs. l and 2.
Having fully described my improvement, what I- claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:-
