Definitions
- This invention applies to that class of dcors which let down to a horizontal position.
- A may represent part of the vertical wall of a cooking range or stove, and B a doorframe secured thereto by rivets or otherwise.
- hinge-sockets which may be cast upon the frame B, or secured thereto by screws, as shown.
- the hinge-sockets give bearing to the hinge-pintles d of the door D.
- the door has at top a latch, E.
- the upper ends of the braces G are hinged at g to guide rods I-I,which work through eyes or staples I, which are shown cast upon the door. It will be seen that the hinges y form offsets or shoulders, against which the lower eyes or staples I come in contact when the door is let down, (see Fig. 3,) and as the lower ends of the brace-rods have bearing in the lugs F, irrespective of the pintles y, it will be seen that when the door is down there is no strain upon the hinges either at top or bottom.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LUOIUS L. OULVER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
DROP-DOOR FOR OVENS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 344,521, dated June 29, 1886.
Application filed December 18, 1885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LUOIUS L. OULVER, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful. Improvement in Drop-Doors for Ovens, &c., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which Figurel is a front elevation of the door and door-frame, with the latch-knob removed and part of the spring-case of the latch in section, one of the hinges also being in section. Fig. 2is a cross-section at 2 2, Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a section at the same line, showing the door open.
This invention applies to that class of dcors which let down to a horizontal position.
A may represent part of the vertical wall of a cooking range or stove, and B a doorframe secured thereto by rivets or otherwise.
0 are the hinge-sockets, which may be cast upon the frame B, or secured thereto by screws, as shown. The hinge-sockets give bearing to the hinge-pintles d of the door D. The door has at top a latch, E.
F are hinge-lugs secured some distance below the bottom of the door, giving hinge-bear- Serial No. 186,061. (No model.)
iug to the lower ends of the hinged braces G. The upper ends of the braces G are hinged at g to guide rods I-I,which work through eyes or staples I, which are shown cast upon the door. The guide-rods form a guide and support for the upper ends of the brace-rods G.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim is- The combination, with a stove having a door, D, hinged at bottom, of the brace-rod G, hinged at one extremity beneath said door, the guide-rod H, hinged at one extremity to the free extremity of said brace-rod, and the eyes or staples I, secured to the door, through which said guide-rod slides, substantially as set forth.
