To all persons to whom these presents ma/y come:v
Beit known that I, J, R. L1r'1LE,of WestRoxbury, of the county of Norfolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful or Improved yShirt- Bosomf Stay; and do hereby declare the same to'be fully described in the following specification, and representedin the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 1 is a frnt view of -it. Figure 2 is a representation of it as applied to a shirt-bosom andthe pantaloons or drawers of a person, its purpose being to draw the bosom downward, so as to keep'it stretched or strained, and free from wrinkles while it may be in wear, or, in other words, it is to' cause the shirt-bosom to t or set-well, whether the wearer may be'in a standing or stooping or other position.
In the drawings, A denotes a piece of elastic web bing, provided at its lower part with a button-hole, o r being joined at one end to a button-holed piece or attachment B. After having so applied the hook Oto the shirt bosom, the button-holed .part B of the strap A shouldv be drawn v down and buttoned on one ofthefront buttons ofthe drawers or pantaloons. The elastic strap y A, with its bosom and pantaloon or drawers-attachments, thus cons titutes'an elastic stay or device, for the purpose above set forth.
In-fig. 2 the stay is represented as so-applied-to a shirt-bosom, D, andpantaloons or drawers E.
I am aware that it isnot new toax to the lower part of a shirt-bosom a strap provided with one or more button-holes, such beingr sewed tothe bosom so as to be va permanent fixture, and being inelastic. I, therefore, make no claim to such, or its' combination with a shirt or a shirt-bosom.
The vnew article of manufacture or shirt-bosom stay, as'composed of the button-holed strap A and the hook or' attachment O, as specified, the whole being substan- -tially as and for the purpose set forth.
