DANIEL W. YOUNG, JR, HENRY B. GRAF, AND CLAYTON O. SHUPERT, OF MIAMISBURG, OHIO.
FLOOR-COVERING PROTECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 766,210, dated August 2, 1904.
Application filed May 12, 1904. Serial No. 207,514. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we,DAN1EL W. YOUNG, Jr. HENRY B. GRAE, and CLAYTON O. SHUPERT, citizens of the United States, residing at Miamisburg, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Floor-Covering Protectors; and wedo declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Our invention relates to new and useful improvements in floor-protectors for attachment to the legs of chairs or various other articles of furniture.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the above character which, as stated, is attachable to the legs of chairs and serves to prevent any injury to floor-coverings 0r hard-wood floors due to the tilting or leaning backward of the chairs. In constructing such device we have had an eye single to the requirements of such a device, which are as follows: First, the base of the device must be flat and sufficiently broad or of a suflicient cir-.
cumference to provide a substantial flat surface which rests upon the floor and is unaffected by any movements of the chair due to the tilting backward of the occupant or the leaning backward of the occupant of the chair; secondly, the connection of such a device with the leg of a chair must be such as will enable a free movement of the leg in tilting in any direction without disturbing or affecting the base member.
Preceding a detail description of our invention reference is made to the accompanying drawings, of which Figure 1 is an elevation of our improved floor-protector, showing the same partially in section and connected with the end of a chairleg. Fig. 2 is a detached perspective view of the base or floor member. Fig. 3 is a view of a modified construction of that portion of the device attachable to a square chair-leg.
IiirllBlll-IBU. AugllSB :4,
