FURNITURE-PAD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,509, dated October 26, 18 86.
Application filed January 5, 1886. Serial No. 187,703. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. HERTZ, of Hazelton, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a newand useful Improvement in Furniture-Pads, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 is an end elevation of one form of my improved furniture-pad. Fig. 2 isatransverse section of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures of the drawings.
The object of my invention is to furnish a pad to be applied to the backs of chairs, sofas, and other articles of furniture to prevent injury to walls by the contact of the frame of the furniture therewith.
My invention consists of a pad formed of a soft-rubber top and of ahard-rubber base, the
same having a central aperture through'it to screw against'and to make a solid attachment a between the pad and chair or other article of furniture.
The pad is attached to the article of furniture by inserting a screw-driver in the opening 0, and bringing it into engagement with the nick of the'screw d, and turning thescrew d until the part b of the pad is brought against the surface of the article of furniture.
Having thus described my invention,what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-f The furniture-pad consisting of a soft-rubber top or outer portion and a hard-rubber base, the same being centrally apertured to receive a securing-screw or fastening, and a driver for driving the screw or fastening into the article to which the pad is to be attached, substantially as herein shown and described.
