GEORGE vDARE AND DIANA DARE, OF AUBURN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN PAPER BAGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 71,143, dated November 19, 1867- To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that we, GEORGE DARE and DIANA DARE, of Auburn, in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Mode of Manufacturing Paper Bags 5 and we do hereby declare that the following is a true and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, andto the letters of reference marked thereon, in which is represented a piece of paper of oblong shape, showing the manner of folding the same.
The nature of our invention consists in so folding an oblong piece of paper, longitudinally and transverselyT upon each side of its center, that the paper, when pasted together at its sides, will form a bag with square bottom, the superficial measurement of which shall be the same ias the mouth of the bag, thus rendering it stronger, or less liable to give way or wear out.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The manner of folding a piece of paper upon each side of its center, for the purpose of forming a bottom, the supercial measurement of which shall be the same as the mouth of the bag, substantially for the purpose set forth.
