To all whom t may concern,.-

Be it known that I, GEORG-E HENRY Mown, a citizen of the United States, residing at Watertown, in the county of Jefferson and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Skirt Supporting Belts; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in skirt-supports and waist-retainers; and it consists in the provision of a metallic strap or band which is held by a tape or band about the body of the wearer and provided with a hook for attachment to the waist, while detachable hooks fastened to the skirt-band are adapted to be caught over the upper edge of the metallic strap.

' The invention relates, further, to details of construction, which will be hereinafter more fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.

I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which drawings- Figure l is a perspective view of the metallic `strap with tape secured thereto. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the edge of the strap, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view showing the pin for retaining the waistband.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a metallic strap or band, having a recess B in one edge and apertures C C located near the opposite longitudinal edge. A tape D is passed through said apertures C and is adapted to be tied about the waist of the wearer. A pin E has one end fastened to the face of said strap adjacent to one end of said recess and is coiled at E. An integral hook F is formed at one end of said recess, over which the free end of the pin which is horizontally disposed is designed to engage.

Detachable hooks K, which are fastened to the skirt-waist, are provided, which are caught over the upper edge of said metallic strap when the latter has been fastened to the body of the wearer.

From the foregoing it will be noted that when the metallic strap is fastened to the body, the waistband having been previously secured by said integral pin, the hook-pins may be easily caught over the edge of the strap.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A waist-retainer and skirt-support, consisting of a strap of metal, a tape passing through apertures therein for attachment to the body of the wearer, said strap having a recess on one edge, a hook formed at one end of said recess out of a piece of said strap, a pin secured at the other end of said recess to the face of the strap, said pin bent at right angles forming a coil and then horizontally disposed and adapted for engagement with said hook, and the detachable hooks for engagement with a skirt-band and designed to engage over the edge of said plate.
