IMPROYED MEDICINE-OASE. y i

TO W-IIOM I'l MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, JOHN R. HAYNES, of Newport, `-in the county of Campbell, State of Kentucky, and AMOS F. WonTm-NGTON, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Medicine-Cases. i
Our invention relatos to an arrangement where two or morc'series of vials in a medicine-case or chest are made readily accessible, and maintained at all times with their mouths upward, whether the ease be open or shut.
I Figure 1 is a perspective view of a case embodying our invention, the same being shown with open cover, and having one slide elevated and folded over, so as to expose the lower tier. Figure 2 is a transverscsection of the same in the closed condition, Figure 3 'shows one of our slides detached. 1 y A is the body of the case' proper, having a sideiiap,-B, and a cover, C, which Hap and cover havel a hinge or ilexible connection, b c, with the said bod'y'at its lower front corner and upper rear corner respectively, and the said cover having a flap, C'. The ends of the case have inside. vertical grooves A A. for slides D 1Jl` D" DI Dm', each of which has a horizontal joint or ilexible portion, d, at its mid-height, so as to constitute a pair of leaves, d d, each of which 4has a vial-rack, which may consist of a series of loops, E, of leather or other suitable material. The lower edge of each leaf has a horizontally projecting ledge or shelf, F F', which serve: to support the tier of vials, and of which the upper ledge F also serves, when the case is closed, to hold in the corks of the lower tier of vials, those of the upper tier being similarly held by the cover C. A tag, Gr, projecting from the top of each slide, enables either one of them to be lifted and folded3 over, as seen'in fig. 1, or to b( removed entirely from the cas'e. For a larger class of vials, one or more of the slides may be inflexible. (Se: D, lig. 2.) The flap andcover may be held to the closed position by means of any suitable catch, H, an(l when so closed a handle, I, upon the cover, enables the caseto be easily carried about. A pocket, J, for pre scriptions, powdcr-papers, die., may be provided in the rear part of the case.
Several very decided advantages accrue from the above arrangement. For example, ready and convenienl access is afforded to every vial in the case, and no vial is at anytime in an inverted position, and therefore no liable to leak or the cork becoming loose. Every vial and every cork is securely held to its proper place. Thi: improvement may be applied to any desired form of medicine-case or chest. i
We: claim herein as new and of our invention- Y 1. The provision in a medicine-case of one or more sliding and folding vial-racks, substantially asset forth 2. The provision .upon such racks of the ledges F Fr, `for the-purpose set forth. In testimony of which invention we hereunto set our hands. JMB. HAYNES,
A. F. WORTHNGTON. Witnesses:
GEO. H. KNIGHT, JAMES H. LA YMAN.
