"IMPROVEMENT m GRAIN-MEASURES.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To .all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSHUA A. ROSBECK, of Hermon,'in the county of St, Lawrence, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Grain Measure, for the purpose of measuring grain, and all other articles of the like nature; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the said invention, also a description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, in which- Fignre 1 is an oblique projection of measure, (full size.) I

The letter A represents a false bottom, used for making the divisions in the measure, by adjusting it in slots 0.

Fig. 3 and letters B are false sides, used forcovering or closing slots 0, by Sliding up or down in guides D.

The letters 0 are slots in the side of the measure, used for receiving false bottom (1, thereby forming the different divisions in the measure.

The letters 1) are wood or metal guides, fastened to the sides of. the measure, for the pmpose of receiving false sides B, and securing them in their proper place.

By'adjusting bottom a in upper slot 0, the space:

immediately "above is supposed to contain four quarts. By removing false bottom a to the next lower slot 0, and sliding false side 3. and fig,i3.s o as to cover up-uper slot 0,: the measure is then supposed to contain eight quarts.

By removing thefalse bottom to the next lower slot v c, and sliding false side B and fig. 3 so as to cover both" .upper slots 0, the measure is then supposed to contain sixteen quarts.

By remow'ng the bottom from thence to. the lower slot 0, and sliding false side B so as to cover the third iece B in combination with a rain-measure havin the slots 0 O and guide-ways D D, for the purpose of making a variable measure, substantially as described.
