UNITED STATES PATENT GEEICE.
GHAUNCEY S. OAPLE, OF FRANKFORT, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TOv HIMSELF AND WILLIAM GATES, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT lN LADIES WORK-STANDS.
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 117,044, dated July 18, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHAUNGEY S. CAPLE, of
f Frankfort, in the county of Herkimer and State of New York, ha-ve invented a new and useful Improvement in Ladies7 VorkStand, and I do hereby decla-re that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the artto make and use the same7 reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a top view of my improved stand. Fig. 2 is a detail vertical section of the saine taken through the line a' w, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved Work-stand, designed more especially for ladies Work-stand, but which may be used with equal facility and advantage for other purposes; and it consists in the construction and combination of various parts of the stand, as hereinafter more fullydescribed.
A is the top or leaf of the stand, which is attached to the upper part of a shaft or standard, B, to the lower end of which are attached legs or feet C, of such a length a's to raise the stand to a convenient height. D is a plate or leaf, through the center of which the standard. B passes, and which revolves upon said standard and is supported by the upper ends of the feet G or by a collar attached to the standard B. To the plate D are attached radial partitions E, of such a height as to reach up to the top A. The inner and outer ends of the partitions E are connected with boards F, which thus form a series of radial tills or bins. A portion, c', of the top A is cut out of the same form and size as one of the tills or bins. The piece c is hinged at one of its side edges to the body of the top A, as shown in Fig. 1, so. that by raising the said piece c access may be had to the tills or bins beneath. To the under side of the board D are attached knobs G, for convenience in bringing any desired bin beneath the door or lid c. To the upper end of the standard B is attached a spool-stand or rack, H, and to the top of the spool-stand H is attached an emery-bag, I, as shown in Fig. 2.
When the stand is used upon a mechanics Work-bench for holding small tools or other articlesthe feet O should be only long enough to raise the revolving part of the stand above the said bench. In this case the spool-stand H may be replaced by a rack for holding various small articles.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 'll-he emery-bag I, spool-rack H, standard B, top plate A having hinged door c', revolving plate D having bins E F, and knobs G, all constructed and arranged together upon feet C, as and for the purpose specied.
