TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONQERN:

Be it known that I, EUGENE F. LYMAN, of Indianapolis, Marion county, and State of Indiana,`have`invented a new and improved Clothes-Rack and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 14 represents a perspective view.

The nature of my invention consists in constructing a box, which has doorsin front, and-some semcircular metal racks placed to the inside, opposite these doors, for the purpose of stacking away the arms c, which can be so placed that they will `aii'ord an opportunity to dry a large amount of clothes upon them.V Some of these arms, c c c c, &c., are placedl at the sides of this box, like billiard-sticks, so that the box can be closed and made to appear like a. neat piece of' furniture in' the room. i 4

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.

I construct a box in any way that boxes are made, with a stationary top and bottom, A A, and sides. 'B B, which are hung on hinges to. swing open. The front parts or doors C C are also hinged to the sides B B, and are provided with a latch orloeli. The back D of the box is provided with `two semicircular metal racks, G and H, which are flat on their rear, and screwed to the back D of box, as shown in iig. 2. These arrangements are subdivided by -partitions running slanting in such a way that the arinsff, which are notched on' one end to t over the outer rim of these metal racks G and H, when placed in their position to use, will extend horizontally out from the box and form a clothes-rack, as' shown in figs. 4, 3, and 5.

When the clothesare dried,.-I take the arms and place them in the partitions of rack H and into the cavities of sockets J, and take the arms c c c c c, &c., and place them into the staples I I. Then I close the box for future use.

Thus I have succeeded in constructing a clothes-rack which is handy and convenient, and which excels all others known to me. u

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is--iV The combination and arrangement of the semicircular racks G and H, the arms f and c, the sockets and staples for the arms, andthe box A B C D, all operating substantially as and for the purpose specified.
