TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known thatI, JOHN W. SANFORD, of Bath, Steuben county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful improvement in Fastenings for Brushes or Brooms and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference markethereon.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceccl to describe its construction and operation. I l
The handle marked a is ,put through a ferrule soclcet 'of metal, marked 1;, with a screw-bolt of metal runnin u into the handle, marked a and a slide socket of metal marked d which slides over the brush c P 7 a es o1 brooms, with a block or head of wood and a bur of metal in it, marked e and f, with the screw-bolt passing through it marked 0, and asmall screw-bolt of metal, marked g, at the end, as a guard for guardhand of metal marked 71- This improvement is so complete and perfect that bristles made into brushes or corn or wood brush made into brooms, cann'otbe pulled out, and can be changed, when worn out, into new ones, by removing the bristles or brush, in a,few minutes.
