W/TNE SSE S NITED ST TES ATENT OFFICE.
PHILIP FISCHER, OF PLAUDERVILLE, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO FISCHER a BENDHEIM, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINATION PIPE, CIGAR-HOLDER, AND CIGARETTE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 664,139, dated December 18, 1900.
Application filed October 31, 1900. Serial No. 35,019. (No model.)
To all whom, it rnayconcern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP FISCHER, a citizen of the United. States, and a resident of Plauderville, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Combination Pipe, Cigar-Holder, and Cigarette-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to smokers articles; and its object is to provide a new and improved pipe, cigar holder, and cigaretteholder arranged to permit the user to conveniently and quickly convert the article into a smoking-pipe, a cigar-holder, or a cigaretteholder.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claim.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accom panying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which. similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improvement arranged as a pipe. Fig. 2 is a like view of the same arranged as a cigar-holder. Fig. 3 is a like view of the same arranged asacigarette-holder, and Fig. 4 is a sectional side elevation of the improvement with the several parts shown detached.
The improved smokers article consists, essentially, of a body A, a mouthpiece B, and a bowl O, made of Wood or other suitable material, the body A being arranged with two members A A standing at an angle to one another and having bores A A of diderent diameters and connected with each other at or near their inner ends by a passage A (See Fig. 4.) The mouthpiece B has a conical stem B, terminating in a reduced end B adapted to fit into the bore A, while the conical end B is arranged to fit into the bore A Thus the mouthpiece B can be inserted into either of the two bores A or A and project from the corresponding member A or A as is plainly indicated in Figs. 1 and 2.
The bowl 0 is formed with a conical stem that when the several parts are assembled 0, adapted to fit into the small bore A so as shown in Fig. 1 then the article forms a smoking-pipe, the mouthpiece B engaging the member A and the bowl 0 engaging the member A The bore A is of such size and is shaped to receive the lower end of a cigar, as indicated in Fig. 2, to permit of using the article as a cigar-holder, and the bore A is of such size and shape as to receive one end of a cigarette to allow of using the smokers article as a cigarette-holder, as indicated in Fig. 3. Thus by the arrangement described the mouthpiece B is interchangeable on the members A and A of the body Aby making the bores thereof in different sizes and providing the mouthpiece with a reduced end, as previously described, said bores at the same time serving to receive and hold cigars or cigarettes and the bore A being arranged to receive the stem G of the bowl 0.
The device is very simple and durable in construction, can be cheaply manufactured, and the several parts can be readily interchanged for the purposes mentioned.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A smokers article, comprising a body having angular members with connected bores of different sizes, one of the bores being adapted to receive the stem of the mouthpiece or a cigar and the other bore being arranged to receive the mouthpiece-stem, a cigarette or the stem of a pipe-bowl, a pipe-bowl having a stem for engaging one of said bores, and a mouthpiece having the end of its stem reduced to fit the smaller bore of the body, the portion of the stem above the reduced end being constructed to fit the larger bore, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PHILIP FISCHER.
