'TO ALL WHOM IT MAY. CONCERN:
B'e'it known that I, NOAH Dncr'ron of the city of Janesville, in the county of Rock, and State o'f'Wisconsin, .iave invented a new and improved mode of Preventing Cows from Lashing one in the Face while Milking them and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference-marked thereon. l
The nature of my invention consists in suspending a-weight to the tail of the said animal in the most convenient way, wit-bout confining myself to any particular mechanical construction of the said weight. I am aware that there are various devices in use for the same purpose, but I am not aware that there are. any in use where the inventor relies solely upon the specific gravity thereof.
For convenience I have adopted ,the form set forth'in the drawingunder Figure 1, which is constructed in the form of pincers, with jaws a a and handles 0 c, enlarged at thelower ends thereof, for the purpose of increasing the weight thereof. Theletter 6 represents an elastic ringencircling the said handles just below the said jaws, and used for the purpose of tightening the said jaws to the'said tail, or the hair thereof, as the case may be. The said ring-I regard as an important feature of this invention, by virtueof which I am enabled tb compress the said jaws sudiciently tight to the hair of the said tail to sustain the said weight.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-of the United States, is.-
The application of a weight or an instrument of specific gravity to a cows tail while milking her, substantially vas described and for the purpose specified.
,Also, the ring 6, in combination with the said instrument or weight, substantially as described and for the purpose specified. v
