COLLAR.

COLLAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 11, 1919.
Application filed March 22, 1919. Serial No. 284,497.
To czZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY WozNow, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the town of Schmidt, in the Province of Saskatchewan, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in collars, and one of the objects of the invention is to provide an improved fastening means which can be readily secured and thus hold the collar in proper position.
Further objects are to dispense with the use of studs and to render the fastening means an integral part of the collar, and generally to adapt the collar to better perform the functions required of it.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists essentially of the improved construction hereinafter described and set forth in detail in the following Specification and accompanying drawings:
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the collar blank.
Fig. 2 is a plan View of the locking band designed to be used with the blank.
Fig. 3 is a plan view showing the collar blank and band assembled.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a blank of fabric from which a collar is made, the blank being designed to be folded about the longitudinally extending dotted line 10 thereby forming a neck band 9 and outer wall 8 of the double collar. The neck band 9 is provided at the ends with tips 11 and 12, the latter having an elongated orifice 18 therethrough, and intermediate of the length of the neck band a longitudinally extending locking tongue 14 is formed, and adjacent to the tip 11 an elongated orifice 15 is provided in the neck band for an object which will be made clear hereafterward.
A locking band of fabric 16 coacts with the blank A and is provided adjacent to the ends with elongatedorifices 17 and 18, while intermediate of the lengthy a pair of elongated orifices 19 are provided, through which Y the tongue 14 passes to centrally position the said band 16 as shown in Fig. 8.
The upper edge of the band 16 is cut away between the orifices 19 and 18 as shown at 21, and the tip 12 of the blank A is designed to pass through the orifice 18.
The elongated orifice 17 is designed to register with the orifice 15 in the neck band 9, and when the collar is closed in circular formation the tip 12 is adapted to pass through the orifices 15 and 17 whereupon the tongue 14 will engage with the elongated orifice 13 on the tip 12, so holding the collar in closed position, such as it will occupy when on the neck of the wearer.
It will thus be seen thatbuttons or studs are absolutely eliminated in placing the collar in position on the neck.
As many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention, within the scope of the claim, constructed without departing from the spirit or scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings, shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting se'nse.
What I claim as my invention is:
A collar comprising a blank having a locking tongue formed therewith and having elongated orifices near the ends of the blank, a locking band held by the locking tongue and having orifices through the ends, one of the orifices of the band engaging the end of the collar blank and the other orifice engaging the end of the tongue, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
HARRY WOZNOW.
Witnesses:
ABRAHAM YAoowoR, MIKE J. BAKwoY.
