COLLAR-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 2%, 1919.
Application filed August 28, 1918. Serial No. 251,810.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. REY- NoLDs, a citizen of the United States, residing at De Soto, in the county of J efierson and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Collar-Fasteners,'of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in collar buttons and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device for use at the rear of the shirt band.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efiicient in operation and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of the device.-
Fig. 2 is a view of the device in place in a shirt.
Fig. 3 is a section on line 33 ofFig. 2.
Fig. i is a front view showing a modification.
In these drawings 1 represents the body of the device which is preferably made of wire bent into the form shown in the drawings. The body comprises a pair of tongues 2, spaced apart and located on each side of said body. One end of the wire after leaving the last tongue is bent at right angles and extends centrally between the said tongues, as shown at 3. Midway the body a head 4: is formed by forming a loop in the wire as it passes from one side of the body to the other. The end 3 extends into the loo-p of this head, as clearly shown in the drawing. Near the extreme end of this part 3 a kink 5 is formed and the tip end of the head or loop 4 is slightly raised as at 6. In using the device the body part is placed within the pocket 7 formed at the rear part of the shirt band 8 with the head passing outwardly through the button hole and the part or finger 3 passing along the inner face of the band below the button hole, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. In this way part of the shirt band is grasped between the head and finger and when the head is placed through the button hole in the collar said collar will also be grasped between these parts. In this manner the collar will be prevented from rising at the rear of the neo In the modification shown in Fig. i the body is made plain as the tongues shown in the other figures are omitted. This form of the invention is provided with the head i and the finger 3' before described.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I- may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A collar button formed of wire comprising a body part, a head part formed by an extension loop located midway the ends of the body part, the extreme end of said head being slightly raised and a spring fingerconnected with the upper side of the body part and extending through same into the loop of the head part, said finger having a kink at its end and terminating an appreciable distance from the inner curve of the end of the head part so that the collar and shirt band are gripped by the two parts of the head part and said finger.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
WILLIAM H. REYNOLDS.
