Be it known that I, CLARK ALVORD, of We'stford, in the county of Dodge, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and improved Mode of Securing a Brush t0 the Hand of the User; and I,d0 hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had'to the accompanying drawings,
making a part of this specification. r v
, The nature of my invention consists in making t he strap on the back of brushes, under which the hand is placed, (and which is usually of leather,)'of an elastic substance, so that itwill adjust itself to differenhsiaed hands and obviate the usual 'difliculty of being too large or too small.
To enable others to make and use my invention, I will state that the elastic strap is fastened to the brush by nailing the ends to the sides of the brush in the usual way of fastening leather straps to brushes for cleaning horses. The material used may be any sufficiently elastic substance. India rubber, or India rubber combined with other substances, as'the webbing used in the manufacture of gaiters, or goods used for suspenders, when out into suitable lengths and nailed on as above described, answers the purpose.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The application to and combination of an elastic strap with a brush, as above described and shown, and for the purpose above set forth.
