, IMPROVEMENTIN PICTURE-NAILS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 59,404, dated November 6, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT D. JUDD, of New Haven, in the State of Connecticut, have invented, made, and applied to use a certain new and useful Improvement in Picture-Nails; and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the said invention, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making part of this specification, wherein Figure 1 is a section of my said improved picture-nail, and Fig. 2 is a view of the head.

Picture-nails have heretoforebeen made with an ornamental porcelain surface held into a sheet-metal head, the edge of the metal being turned over the edge of the porcelain to retain the same.
My invention is an improved picture-nail, formed of a p'orcelain head with a nut attached to the back by a rivet passing through the porcelain, and an ornamental metal washer upon the surface of such porcelain, said head screwing upon the nail that is to be driven into the wall.

In the drawings, a is the usualinetal nail, with a screw at the end. b is the ornamental porcelain head, through which is a hole. 0 is a metal nut, having a stem passing through said hole and through an ornamental washer, d, and said stem is riveted up and attaches the nut, the porcelain head, and the washer together.
This picture-nail is different in appearance to the picture-nails heretofore made, is highly ornamental, and is strong and durable.
WVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The head for picture-nails, formed by the screw-nut having a stem or rivet passing through and securing the porcelain head and ornamental metallic washer, as set forth.
