DESIGN FOR SPOONS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Iatent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, BENNET JEuALD, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticnt, have invented a new Design for Spoons; and Iv do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 and Figure 2, a sectional view on line a a, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part ol' this specification, and represent a. view of the spoon.
This invention relates to an improvement in design for metal spoons, the object being at the same time to beautify and strengthen the spoon; and
The invention consists in forming a head in the edge of the handle which dies out in the edge of the spoon, giving to the spoon the appearance of a continuation of the head around the bowl of the spoon.
The handle and bowl of the spoon are usually struck from sheet metal, and to strengthen the handle acentral header corrugation is raised or struck into the handle, and upon the edge of the handle a bead, d, continues down, turns, and dies out onto the edge ot' the bowl, as clearly shown in the accompanying illustration, iig. 1.
As the Weakest place iu the'spoon is at the intersection of the handle and bowl, that point is strengtheued by the continuation of the head, as described and shown in fig. 2, the head being continued down, and so as to die out on the edge of the spoon below the base of the handle.
I claim as my invention- The design for spoon, as herein described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
