To all whom it may concern:

- Be it known that I, Rosa ETTINGER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented anew and useful Improvement in a Combined Folding Table and Bed, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.

The object of my invention is to combine in one article of furniture a table, a dressing case and desk and a bed, and to arrange these parts in a compact and convenient form in such way that either may be used without the other.

The invention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth.

In the drawings, in which like letters designate similar parts throughout, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention when arranged in the form of a table. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof when arranged in the form of a dressing case. Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the invention in the form of a dressing case with the bed pulled out. Fig. 4 is a vertical section of the foot-board of the bed. Fig.5 is avertical section of a detail" showing the head of the bed. Figs. 6 and 7 show a modification.

These doors are arranged to lie flush with the surface of the section, so that its surface will be smooth when the section is used as a table. The foot board is provided on its outer side with folding legs M. this foot board may be let down into horizon tal position to constitute an extension of the bed. When the bed is to be folded into its casing J, it is pushed inward and the trunnions Z move upward on the curve of the slots m, the weights P, through the cords p which pass over the pulleys 1), serving to pull the inner end of the section K up into vertical position. The sections and k" then fold up into vertical position and the foot board M covers'the open side of the casing J.

The casing j does not extend so near the floor as in Fig. 1 and one or more drawers F are located at one side of the bed.

Various changes may of course be made by one skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of my invention.

Having thusdescribed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secureby Letters Patent, is v 1. The combination of two table sections hinged together, one of said sections being adapted to be turned into a vertical position to form a dressing case,-and so arranged that when it is turned down into a horizontal position the face of the dressing case section forms with the other section a table surface and a folding bed supported at one end by the other of said table sections and adapted to be folded thereunder, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination of a table provided at one end with a casing J ,a folding bed suptical position when the bed is let down, and adapted to be unfolded to a horizontal position to form an extension for the bed and closing the casingJ when the bed is folded in into the casing, substantially as set forth.

3. In a folding bed, the combination of a casing, open on one side, folding side rails supported at one end by the casing and adapted to fold into the casing through its open side, a folding foot-board adapted to be turned from its normal vertical position,whioh it occupies when the bed is let down to a horizontal position to form an extension of the bed and when in its vertical position adapted to close the open side of the casing when the bed is folded thereinto, substantially as set forth.

4. The combination of two table sections A and B hinged together, said section B being provided with folding legs and adapted to be turned to a vertical position to form with the section A a dressing case, the section B being so arranged that when it is turned down into a horizontal position the face thereof forms with the section A atable surface, a bed comprising folding side rails and a folding footboard supported at one end beneath the section A and adapted to fold thereunder, sub stantially as set forth.

5. The combination of two table sections hinged together, one of said sections being adapted to be turned into avertical position to form a dressing case,--and so arranged that when it is turned down into a horizontal position the face of the dressing case section forms with the other section a table surface and a folding bed supported at one end by the other of said table sections and adapted to be folded thereunder, the top of the second mentioned table section being hinged to fold up into vertical position, substantially as set forth.

6. The combination of a table provided at one end with a casing beneath the top of the table, the top of the table above the casing being hinged to fold into vertical position and forming, when in horizontal position, the cover for said casing, and a folding bed supported by the casing and adapted to fold thereinto, the bed being provided with a folding footboard normally occupying a vertical position when thebed is let down and adapted to be turned down into a horizontal position to form an extension of the bed and adapted to close the casing when the bed is folded thereinto, substantially as set forth.
