IMPROVED TRAVELING LUNCH BAG.
Speciiiealion forming part of Lei ters Patent No. 47,324, dated April 18, 1865.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. NoYEs, of Oneida, in the county ot' Madison and State ot' New York, have invented a new and Improved Traveling-Bag, which I term a Traveling Lunch-Bag; 7 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part ot' this specification, in Which i Figure l is an end view of my invention, partly in section g Fig. 2, a side view ot' the same with the iiap or door ot' the lunehreceptaclc raised or opened.

This invention consists in combining with a traveling-ba g a lunch bag orreceptacle, and also a pocket, if desired, all being constructed and arranged in such a manner that the necessary clothing of a traveler, letters and papers, and also provisions or lunches, may be carried in one device with equally as great facility as clothing alone can be carried in the ordinary traveling bags.
The upper part, A, ot' the device is constructed as ordinary traveling-bags, it being provided with jawsto open and close, and provided with handles a a, and a lock or any other suitable fastening. This part A may be constructed ofleather, carpet, enameled cloth, or any of the materials used-for such `purposes.
Underneath the part'A, and permanently attached to it, there is a rectangular box, B, which may be constructed of thin wood or metal, the former material being preferable. The box B in its horizontal section is equal in area to the bag A, and said box is covered with the same material as the bag A is coin-` posed of, so that the device will have a uniform appearance. At one side of the box B This door may comprise the whole of the sideP l. o f the box B, the joint being at its uppe'r edge,
the lower part of the door being secured to the box in a closed state by means ot' hooks and a lock, d,liu addition thereto. This box B is provided with two tin or sheet-m'etal boxes, E E, which are provided with lids c, and one or more partitions, f, in order to divide them into compartments. The boxes E are tted loosely in thebox B, so that'they may be placed in and withdrawn therefrom with the greatest facility, and they are equal in height to the box B,and of such a width as to admit of a space, g, between them, to receive various articles or utensils used in eating-as, for instance, a napkin, knife and fork, spoon, plate, dram-liask, ilexible drinkingcup, Src.
The boxes E E receive the eatables, and the contents are rendered accessible by first raising or opening the door cand then opening the lids e of the boxes E E.
The pocketOmay be useful for carrying papers, letters, or other small articles, such as toilet articles, for instance.
The device may be constructed at a moderate cost, and carried by a traveler with equally as great facility as an ordinary traveling bag.
