POCKET FOR VESTS.
SPECIFICATION forming par'. of Leners Patent No. 431,050, dated :any 1, 1890.

To all whom. it may concern..-
Beit known thatI, HARMAN GREENBEEG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Huntingdon, in the county of Huntingdon and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Construction of the Pockets of a Gentlemans Vest or Vaistcoat; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates t0 improvements in the pockets of a gentlemans vest or Waistcoat, and the objects are to secure greater safety for his Watch and at the same time preserve the ordinary display of the Watch chain or guard. I attain these objects by the arrangement illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 represents a front view of a highcut vest or Waistcoat; Fig. 2, a front view of aloW-cut or dress vest or Waistcoat, and Fig. 3 a vertical view of the section marked X X in Fig. 2.
Inside the vest or Waistooat is attached a Watch-pocket (marked 13,) which may be of the same size as the outer ordinary pocket,
(marked A,) or it may be smaller. The inner pocket I3 is not accessible in a high-cut vest or Waistooat Without openin g the garment, and in a dress vest or Waistcoat Without inserting the hand between the vest or Waistcoat and the body. This inner pocket B is placed immediately behind the outer pocket, and a buttonhole or slot (marked E) in the material permits the Watch-chain to be drawn through4 from the inside and the hook 0r bar attached to the button-holes in front in the manner that Watch-chains are usually worn. The slot or button-hole E should be cut below the upper edge of the outer pocket, so as to beinvisible except by pulling the outer pocket down. The same device may be attached to the upper pocket and to all the pockets of the vest.
What I claim is- A garment having a pocket opening upon the outside thereof and a pocket opening upon the inside, said pockets communicating by a button-hole or small opening for the passage of a Watch-chain, substantially as and for the purposes shown and described.
