Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADMINISTRATRIX OF SAID LOUIS GREEN WALD,
DECEASED.
WATCH-POCKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 24, 1906.
Application filed November 20. 1905- Serial N0- 288,242-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LoUIs GREENWALD, a citizen of the United States, residin at Longview, in the county of Gregg am? State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Watch-Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a holder or pocket for a watch, and has for its object to provide a simple, safe, and handy device of this kind which is detachably fastened to a garment.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of the holder, showing the manner of its attachment to a garment. Fig. 2 shows the holder opened to expose the watch. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the holder. Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4 4 of Fig. 3.
Referring specifically to the drawings, the holder comprises a square or other-shaped piece of cloth or other suitable fabric 10, having at its corners buttonholes 11 for attachment to the garment by buttons 12 on'the latter, as clearly shown in Fig. 1.
The top end of the piece 10 forms a flap 13, on the back of which is sewed or otherwise secured a band 14, which forms a pocket to receive the open-faced watch 15. A portion of the band is left loose, as at 16, so that the watch can be inserted. Suitable fasteners 1 7, which may be of the head-and-socket type, are provided for securing-the part 16 after the watch has been inserted. One of these fasteners is placed at the free end of the part 16 and one on each side of the stem and under the bow of the Watch, whereby the latter is securely held in the pocket. The band fits around the edge of the watch only, leaving its face exposed. Access to the watch is had by unbuttoning the flap 13 at the top and turning it down, as shown in Fig. 2, which exposes the face of the watch.
The device herein described is particularly useful for mechanics or others wearing overalls the pockets of which are not constructed to safely carry a watch and the pockets of the other garments being unhandy to get at.
The invention affords a handy and safe place for the watch and effectively serves to prevent loss thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
1. A watch-holder comprising a flap secured to a garment and foldable thereagainst, a pocket on the back of the flap, and means for securing the free end of the flap.
2. A watch-holder com rising a flap secured to a garment and foldable thereagainst, fastening means for the free end of the flap, a band secured to the back of the flap to form a watch-pocket having an opening throu h which the Watch is exposed, a portion of t e band being loose to permit insertion of the watch into the pocket, and fastening means for the loose portion of the band.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
LOUIS GREENWALD.
