K. T. HUR'LBURT. PLATE 0R DISH HOLDER.
No. 416,264.- Patented Dec. 3, 1889.
N. PET RS, mm ilhognlphnr.
UNITED STATES PATENT ()EEICE.
KELLOGG THOMAS HURLBURT, OF LAKEVOOD, NEV JERSEY.
PLATE R DISH HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 416,264, dated December 3, 1889.
Application filed June 14, 1889.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KELLOGG THOMAS HURLBURT, a citizen of the United States, re-
- siding at Lakewood, in the county of Ocean thereto.
and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plate or Dish Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to dish-holders; and its obj ectsare, first, to attach a dish adjustably to a stationary support; second, to adapt the device to hold a dish of any size or contour, and, third, to attain these ends with structural simplicity and economy. I accomplish these purposes by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my invention attached to a table, showing the manner of attaching the same adj ustably Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the holder. Fig. 3 illustrates a top plan View thereof, the dotted lines indicating the dish; and Fig. 4 shows a modification of the device, whereby a sliding slip restrained terminally by a coiled spring is substituted for the rubber shown in the other figures.
The same designations indicate corresponding parts in the several views.
To the table G, I secure the clamping-arm A by lateral pressure, so that the bent arm a will be under the table. The clamping-arm A is radially'secured to the bottom of the Serial No. 314,236. (No model.)
plate D, whereon the bottom of the dish F rests, and is bent over twice to form the par allel arm a. The upper surface of the plate D terminates forwardly in two counterpart bent projections (I, under which the edge of the dish F is inserted. Rearwardly the support or plate Dterminates in a yoke D, holding the pin (1, whereto one end of a thick rubber band C is attached, the other end whereof encircles the looped part of a rod B, bent upon itself so that its ends shall point in opposite directions, and terminally bent at b to hold the other side of the dish F, which fits thereunder.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4 the only structural difference is the substitution for the rubber (J of a strip G, adapted to slide in bearings c and held byacoiled spring E, whose ends are respectively secured at e to thestrip C and at e to the support or plate D.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is The plate D, terminating forwardlyin bent projections d and rearwardly in a yoke D, that supports a pin d,whereto one end of the band C is secured, in combination with the rod B, bent upon itself to form a loop whereto the other end of the band C is attached, and whose termini b are bent to hold the other end of the dish, the whole co-operating as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature 'in presence of two witnesses.
KELLOGG THOMAS I-IURLBURT.
