NAPKIN on BIB HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J 1115 16, 1918.
Application filed March 27, 1918. Serial No. 224,966.
To all tvhom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES ROBERT PAR- Risrr, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Nashville, in the county of- Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Napkin or Bib Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improvement in napkin or bib holders, and has for its object to provide mechanism of the character specified for supporting a childs bib in proper position without the use of SllI'lIlgS:Ol' pins, and so arranged that it may be easily placed or removed, and which permits the use of a rectangular piece of cloth without the'usual cut-out in the neck.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front view of the improved holder in closed position; 1
Fig. 2 is a similar view with the holder open;
F ig. 3 is a similar view showing a napkin or bib in place in the holder;
Fig. 4 is an end view showing the manner of connecting the napkin;
Fig. 5 s an end view of Fig. 1, looking at one end; and
Fig. 6 is an end end.
In the present embodiment of the invention, the improved holder, which is formed from wire bent to shape, consists of sections 7 and 8, which are integral at one end, being connected by a coil 3 as shown, and each of the said sections is provided intermediate its ends with a bent or arched portion 1 and view looking at the other 2, respectively.
Figs. 1 and 3. The portions 1 and 2 form,
when the sections 7 and 8 are closed, a circle, which is adapted to encircle a childs neck to hold the entire support in proper position.
The napkin, indicated at 9, has an edge 10 turned over and stitched down upon the body of the napkin as indicated at 11 to form a loop at the said edge, the section 8 being passed through this loop. The teeth or roughened portions 6 prevent slipping of the bib or napkin, and it Will be obvious that in place of the loop clamps might be provided for attaching the napkin directly to the section 8. To place the napkin upon the child, the hook 4- is disengaged from the section 7, and the ring formed by the arched portionsrl and 2 is placed about the childs neck, after which the hook is again engaged with the section 7. It is obvious that the teeth. 6 might be dispensed'with, being replaced by sections of rubber tubing. The sole purpose of these teeth is to prevent slipping of the bib longitudinally of the section 8.
I claim: 7 A
1. A device of the character specified, comprising opposed clamping members of resilient material connected at one end by a resilient coil, one of the members havin a hook at the other end for engaging the otlier member, each of the said members having intermediate its ends an outwardly bent portion cooperating when the members are closed together to form a ring for encircling a childs neck, one of the said members having teeth near each end for the purpose specified.
2. A device of the character specified, comprising opposed clamping members of resilient material connected at one end by a resilient coil, one of the members having. a hook at the other end for engaging the other member, each of the said members having intermediate its ends an outwardly bent por tion cooperating when the members are closed together to form a ring for encircling a childs neck.
