SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 758,073, dated April 26, 1904:.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS HODEOKER, asubject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to necktie-fasteners.

The object of my invention is to provide a necktie-fastener adapted to be supported on the collar-button and to hold a necktie securely in place thereon without the aid of threads or other permanent fastening means, so as to allow a necktie to be easily and readily placed thereon or taken off when it is desired to change the style thereof.

My invention consists of a necktie-fastener comprisinga frame having abutton-receiving opening and a loop through which the ends of the necktie are threaded.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front View of my necktie-fastener having a necktie tied thereon adapted for use with a turndown collar. Fig. 2 is a front view of the necktiefastener. Fig. 3 is a top plan view thereof, and Fig. 4 is a front view of a modification, being similar to Fig. 1 and only differing therefrom in that a neckband is shown to adapt the necktie to be used with standing collars.

Corresponding parts in all the figures are denoted by the same reference characters.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the necktie-fastener having a necktie 2 thereon, said fastener consisting of a frame 3, having a rearwardly-extending integral loop 4, stamped or cutfrom the frame 3 and bent back, thereby leaving an unobstructed slot 5 in said frame directly back of the eye of the loop 4, into which slot 5 the head of the button 5, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, is adapted to project after passing through the eye of the loop 4 to thereby support the fastener, upwardly-extending prongs 6, and a central downwardly-extending portion 7 between said prongs, to which a loop 8 to receive the ends of the necktie is riveted or otherwise secured, said loop being set with a jewel or otherwise ornamented to present the appearance of a finger-ring.

The necktie is secured in place on the holder by first placing it lengthwise across it, then Serial No. 162,365. (No model.)

bending it around the ends of the holder and bringing the ends up vertically above the holder in parallel relation to each other, and finally turning them down over the top of the holder into engagement with the prongs and threading them through the loop. In this form the tie is only adapted for use on aturndown collar; but to adapt it for use on a standing collar it is only necessary to pass a strip 9 lengthwise under the ends of the necktie 2 just above the loop.

I do not desire to be understood as limiting myself to the details of construction and arrangement as herein described and illustrated, as it is manifest that variations and modifications may be made in the features of construction and arrangement in the adaptation of the device to various conditions of use without departing from the spirit and scope of my in vention and improvements. I therefore reserve the rightto all such variation and modification as properly fall within the scope of my invention and the terms of the following claims.

Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. Anecktie-fastener, comprisingalongitudinal curved frame 3 having an integral upwardly-extending loop 4 stamped or out there-. from and bent backwardly and having a graduated eye smallest at the top, and an unobstructed slot 5 in the frame directly in front of and registering with the entire eye of the loop, to receive the head of the collar-button inserted through the eye of the loop, substantially as described.

2. A necktie-fastener, comprisinga longitudinal curved frame 8 having an integral upwardly-extendingloop 4stamped or out therefrom and bent backwardly and having a graduated eye smallest at the top, an unobstructed slot 5 in the frame directly in front of and registering with the entire eye of the loop, to receive the head of the collar-button inserted through the eye of the loop, and a forwardlyeXtending loop on the front of the frame below the loop 4 to receive the endsof a necktie, substantially as described.

3. Anecktie-fastener, comprisingalongitudinal curved frame 3 having openings at each end, an integrally-formed upwardly-extending loop 4 between said holes stamped or out from the body of the frame, bent backwardly and having a graduated eye smallest at the 5 top, and an unobstructed slot 5 in the frame between said openings in the ends of the frame and directly in front of and registering With the entire eye of the loop, to receive the head of the collar-button inserted through the eye IQ of the loop, and a forwardly-extending loopon the front of the frame below the loop 4: to receive the ends of the necktie, substantially as described.
