WITNESSES INVENTOR iv fiazmw h I ATTORN EY rrn STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIZABETH DALTON, OF JUNCTION CITY, KANSAS.
BIB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 22, 1917. Serial No. 156,719.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZABETH DAL'roN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Junction City, in'the county of Geary and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bibs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a bib for infants and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will prevent the infant from dropping his food into his lap or ont the floor' while in his chair.
Another object of this invention isto form a pocket in the bib, whereby such articles of food as are dropped by the baby will be caught and held in the pocket. 7
Another object of the invention is to provide means for attaching part of the bib to the chair to hold thepoeket open.
Another object'of my invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable inconstruction, reliable and v efficient in operation and one which can manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the severalviews, and in which:
ordinary strings 2 for securing the same to Figure 1 shows the invention in elevas tion.
2 is a section on line 2-2, Fig. 1. Flg. 3 is a section on line 33, Fig. 2. As shown in these drawings, the bib has a substantially flat body 1 provided with the the infant and at its lower end the bib is sirable manner. The material formingthe' provided with a pocket 3 formed in any depocket is provided with eyelets 4 along the upper edge adapted to engage with buttons 5 on the inner edge of the high chair table, such buttons being formed in any desirable manner, those shown consisting of fur.- niture tacks driven into the table.
Patented N... 12, 1918.
Thus it will be seen that the pocket is held open by the buttons, so that any food that may be dropped by the baby will be caught in the pocket and thus prevented from droppin into the babys lap or onto the floor.
T e bib may be made of any suitable material, such arubber, oil cloth or the like. Furciiher, the bib may be of any shape deslre While I have shown the invention in use with a high chair, I do not wish to be limlted to this combination, as of course the bib could be used with an ordinary chair having a bar in front to hold the baby in the chair and this bar could carry the buttons for holdin the pocket open.
Again, t e chair could be moved close to the edge of the table and the buttons applied to this so as to hold the pocket open.
It is thought from the foregoing that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
-I desire it to be understood that I may make slight changes in the construction and the arrangement and combination of the several parts, provided such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim as my invention:
prising aseparate piece of material extending across the lower end of the body with;
