W. J. BOYLE. NURSING BOTTLE HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED AUG 19, 1904 UNITED STATES Patented March 14, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM J. BOYLE, OF LEWISTON, MAINE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO WILLIAM J. OBRIEN, OF BATH, MAINE.
NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 784,914, dated March 14, 1905.
Application filed August 19, 1904. Serial No. 221,377.
To all whom, it ntrty concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. BOYLE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lewiston, in the county of Androscoggin and State of Maine, have invented an Improvement in Nursing-Bottle Holders, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.
This invention has for its object the prod uction of a novel nursing-bottle holder that may be easily and safely used.
Figure 1 shows a nursing-bottle in my novel holder, and Fig. 2 is a view showing the holder in section.
The holder comprises a flexible shield A, preferably of leather or flexible india-rubber. If of leather, the leather may be folded on itself and stitched together, as at a, or it may be composed of flexible india-rubbier, when it may be made in one piece. Preferably the bottom of the holder will be open, as shown, and the upper edge of the holder when leather is used may have applied it to a binding a, of india-rubber that may be used by the baby using the bottle B in cutting its teeth. The holder has two rings 6, through which is extended loosely a neck cord or band C, which may be placed about the babys neck and the length of the band be adjusted to retain the holder in the desired position of the babys bosom. The holder is provided at its interior with two loops 6 6 through which is passed loosely a bottle-supporting strap (Z,
one end of which is attached to the holder at its outer side, as best shown in Fig. 2, said strap crossing the open bottom of the holder, as shown, and sustaining the bottle. The free end of strap (Z is folded about the neck of the nursing-bottle below the usual nipple 1).
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A nursing-bottle combined with a bottleholder having a bottle-sustaining strap permanently connected thereto at one end, the opposite end of the strap being adapted to be fitted about the neck of the bottle to connect the same with the holder.
2. The combination with a nursing-bottle, of an open-bottomed bottle-holder composed of flexible material having a flexible binding at its upper edge, and a bottle-sustaining strap connected thereto at one end, the opposite end of said strap being wrapped around the neck of the bottle.
3. An open-bottomed nursing-bottle holder composed of flexible material having a flexible binding at its upper edge and having a bottlesustaining strap connected thereto at one end, the opposite end of said strap being adapted to be connected with the bottle.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
IVM. J. BOYLE. Witnesses:
PHILENA J. MAINs, ROBERTA L. BLACK.
