To all 10 7mm it may concern I lie it known that l linnnr A. i-Linnnn, a citizen of the United States of Auncrica, residing in the city of Portland, in the .county of Multnomah, in the State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Chain and Pendant Supports for Personal ear, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing.

My invention is an article for personal wear, and its object is to provide a device which, when attached as to the buttonhole of a vest, will afford a runner for a watch chain and a loop for a pendant or charm, the construction of the article being such as to hold the article in one position in service, said position being that in which the runner opposes the least resistance to the movement through it of the chain, and the loop always exposes the side of the charm to view.

What constitutes my invention will be hereinafter specified in detail and succinctly set forth in the appended claims.

Referring to the numerals on the drawing, 1 indicates a piece of fabric representing a garment, and 2, a buttonhole therein. From the buttonhole, my device is suspended, and is shown as supporting those articles which it is specially designed to support, to wit, a chain 3, and a charm or pendant i.

Broadly considered, my device comprises two legs, 5 and 6, united by a resilient bend or arch 7. a

It is preferably made of spring wire bent to capacitate it to its several functions. The leg 5 is bent to form a circular intermediate 8 whose dimensions are determined by the size of the chain 3 which, in practice, is passed through it as shown in Fig. I, and is intended to slip freely back and forth through it. The lower end of the leg 5 terminates in a loop 9 consisting of a hook or eye adapted to take into the ring 10 of the charm 4.

in addition to the function as described of the runner 8, its shape adapts it to cooperate with the leg 6 to constitute therewith a se cure clip. Likewise the loop 9 affords a smooth finish to the article considered only as a clip.

In order to provide means for holding the clip in one position in use, I prefer to flatten the end of the leg 6, and also to impart to the extremity thereof a spatulate form as is indicated, for example, by the numeral 11.

In use, my device is securely fastened to its chain 3 by having the latter passed through the runner 8, so that it is made to afford the usual security of an attachment between the chain 3 and the charm 4. For local adjustment, the terminal 11 of the leg 6 is passed through the buttonhole 2, for example, or over the edge of a belt, and when so applied the legs 5 and 6 clip and hold the material of the garment between. them. The flattening of the leg 6 tends to hold the device in a plane at right angles to the garment, thereby affording freedom of movement of the chain 3 through the runner 8, and keeping the face of the charm 4 well displayed in broadside.

In the drawing, the terminal 11 is shown as extending considerably below the bottom of the loop 9, but such proportion is a matter of preference only.

hat I claim is 1. A device of the kind described, comprising two legs united by a resilient bend to form a clip, one of the legs being provided with a terminal loop for the accommodation of a charm, and with a runner completely formed in said leg for the reception and loose accommodation of a chain.

2. A device of the kind described, comprising two legs united by a resilient bend to form a clip, one of the legs being provided with a terminal loop and with a runner completely formed in said leg intermediate the loop and the bend.

3. A device of the kind described, made of spring wire bent to form two legs, and an intermediate bend uniting the same, one ofthe legs being bent to form a terminal loop and a runner completely formed in and a runner completely formed in said leg, of a second leg" united with the first leg by a resilient bend to form a clip and provided with a spatulate end for holding the device substantially at right angles to the plane of a garment when attached thereto.
