To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD WOLEBAUEE, asnbject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Garment-Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and" exact description.

This invention relates to a device which is intended to be attached to one of the fastening-studs of a corset at the front ofthe wearer and to be held thereby, the said device being capable of serving a number of purposes, such as holding a shirt-Waist from working up from the waist, and holdingthe hose-supporters, sanitary cloths, and other apparel from pulling.

AThis specification is an exact description of one example of my invention, while the claims dene the actual scope thereof.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the invention. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. l.

The garment-supporter has a body portion a, which has forwardly-projected end portions a', forming in the body portion a depression extending transversely through the same, such depression serving to receive the corset-loop. From the upper end of the body a hook b projects, and from the lowerend a plate c extends, this plate being formed with a plurality of hooks c or any other means of Accoi-ding to the construction here shown three of these hooks are employed, and this is the preferred number, although more or less may be employed, if desired.

In the body a is formed an elongated opening comprising a major portion d and a minor portion e. The neck or contracted portion of the openingis bounded by yielding portions j' of the metal forming the body, these yielding portions f being struck out from said metal, thus forming springs, which yieldto permit the passage of the shank of the corset-stud, which will notallow said stud to be accidentally displaced. At the right-hand side of the body ot is located a rearwardly and inwardly turned hook g, which is preferably formed integral with the bodyand extends vertically along the right-hand edge thereof.

In using the invention the stud of the corset, which is at the front of the corset, is 'passed iirst through the major portion d of the opening in the body a, and the garmentsupporter is then pressed sidewise, so as to spring the partsf past the shank of the stud, thus causing the shank to be arrested in the minor part e of the opening. This movement serves also to engage the hook g with the edge of the corset part, which part carries the said stud thereof. The loop of the corset is now placed against the body portion a, between the outwardly-bent ends o. thereof, and engaged with the stud in the usual manner.. It will be observed that this will hold the garment-supporter securely in place on the corset and prevent it from wabbling or from being accidentally removed. It is also clear that various articles of apparel which need exaggerated scale but, of course, in practice the devicewill be so constructed that it will not be cumbersome or in the way of the user.

Various changes in the form and details of my invention may be resorted to at will without departing from the spirit of my invention. I-Ience I consider myself entitled to all forms of the invention as may lie within the intent of my claims.

Having thus described my invention; I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A garment-supporter, comprising abody having a depression extending transversely across it and adapted to receive the corsetloop, saidbody also having an opening lo,- cated in the depression and adapted to receive IOO the corset-stud, a hook carried by one side edge of the body and turned laterally to ernbrace the edge of the corset-section having` the stud, and means attached to the body for connecting an article of apparel thereto.

2. A garment-supporter, comprisingabody having a depression extending transversely across it and adapted to receive the corsetloop, said body also having an opening located in the depression and adapted to receive the corset-stud, a hook carried by one side edge of the body and turned laterally to einbrace the edge of the corset-section having the stud, and means attached to the body for connecting an article of apparel thereto, said means comprising a hook at the upper side of the body and a plurality of hooks at the lower side of the body.

3. Agarment-supporter, comprising a body having means for attaching it to the wearer, a hook projected upward from the body, and a plurality of additional hooks projected downward from the body, said hooks being adapted to be engaged with articles of apparel, for the purpose specified.

4. A garment-supporter, having a body formed with an elongated opening therein and having two yielding portions located at the i sides of the opening and formed integral with the body for the purpose speciied,and a laterally-turned hook projecting from the side of the body in line with said opening and adapted to embrace the edge of a corset.

5. A garment-supporter, comprisingabody having a transverse depression therein adapted to receive a corset-loop, said body also having an elongated openingin the depressed portion to receive the corset-stud, and said opening having yielding portions at its sides formed integrally with the body, a transversely-turned hook located at the side edge of the body to embrace the edge of the corset, a hook projecting upward from the body, and a plurality of hooks projecting downward from thebody,said upwardlyand downwardly projected hooks being adapted to be engaged with articles of apparel to hold them in position.
